From a Central Hockey League press release
The Central Hockey League announced today that all the necessary paperwork and documentation with the new franchise in Brampton, Ontario, the City of Brampton and the Powerade Centre have been finalized. All parties entered into a Letter of Intent in late January. The new franchise will compete in the 2013-14 season and will be the first League franchise in Canada.
“When the prospect of Brampton becoming a Central Hockey League franchise surfaced, we were very excited,” said Duane Lewis, Central Hockey League Commissioner. “Now that all the T’s are crossed and I’s dotted, I am even more ecstatic. Adding this market to our current roster of teams is such a positive step for the league and helping the Central Hockey League’s brand north of the border.”
The Brampton Franchise is led by Kingston entrepreneur, owner of Kimco Steel, and former owner of the Kingston Voyageurs, Gregg Rosen, who will be Owner of the Team; and Cary Kaplan, president of the sports marketing firm, Cosmos Sports and former president of the Hamilton Bulldogs, who will assume the role of President & Governor of the team.

You should check out the mess in Bloomington and Quad City don't figure those two will play next year.
Credit to CHL they made it through this year.
Just what they need another team out on an Island.
I really question the business acumen of the ownership of this team. Travel costs can kill franchises and in many cases, leagues themselves. Im sure a few will be crashing and burning after the season in both leagues.
The ECHL has 5-6 teams within 6 hours of Brampton. The closest CHL team is closer to 8 hours and we question if that team will even be in the league. What lunacy drives this? Is Thunder Bay next? Lets find a city thats about as far away from the rest of the league as it can be and put a team in that town. ............Okay,okay , Alaska has team in the ECHL.
I honestly think if the Brampton ownership wanted a winner, put a team in say..Louisville KY, Memphis TN, even suburb of Nashville would probably work. At least you have a common sense choice of the CHL or the ECHL if one league falters.
They may lose 4 teams (unless the CHL steps in to run several franchises...); but hey, they got a new one in BFE....
