Question:  Why was it so easy to bring in foreign born players at this point in the season?

What happened to the "immigration issues" that kept this team from making changes at a time when changes to the roster could have helped this teams playoff chances?

It's not. From what I understand, it's a two-plus week process to get the immigration papers, but you can expidite it down to a week by paying a significant fee. They've been working on Gagnon and Labardo or some time.

Part of the problem is, if you want to sign a player who has been playing somewhere else in the ECHL, then  you have to refile their immigration papers under your team and you can't use the Visa they already have been using. But, if an AHL team sends a guy down to your team, it's no problem and they can play right away because they have a different Visa status.

That's why the Komets have continued, where possible, to look at guys they brought into training camp. They had aleady filed all the immigration papers previously and they were essentially still under Fort Wayne visa papers. In the CHL teams could play a guy right away and wait for his papers to come in, but in the ECHL the papers have to be there before a player can play.

Something's not passing the smell test here....

Labardo was in the lineup for Erie on March 16th and in the lineup for the Komets on March 17th.  In less than 24 hours he had changed teams and been placed in the lineup with his new team...

So, they can start working on immigration paperwork while a player is still playing for another team?  If so, then why werent they doing this for other players they had their eye on?

I have also seen players claimed all season long in the ECHL and those players are in the lineup the next game...within days of being claimed...  I think the players name I remember the most is John May... he's played for 3 or 4 ECHL teams this season...

Something isnt adding up here Blake...

WOW again, thanks for another "blank" performance Jeff......lets look at you now with some 13 games under your belt and do a comparison since you have now been playing pretty "consistently (facetously he says)"

Jeff - 13 games, 3.37 gaa, .894% (last 7-33 goals, 4.7 gaa)....hmmm...league to slow for you now?

Charlie - 27 games, 3.69 gaa, .885%

Seems like the Ducks and the Komets are not getting what the Ducks are paying 700K for I would say.  Also seems like since they have both played with similar D's during the year that the NHL goalie stats should be much better.....best of luck in your next life Jeff

Just checked "transactions".

Cousineau activated.  Deslauriers placed on reserve.

John May is an American. It might be different for Amateur players coming in, I don't know, or the fact that he may be on a student VISA. Again, I don't know.

Who/Suz its a team effort. Its not always the goaltender. You are pretty hard on Jeff. " Good luck in your next life"? You wishing he was dead? You have alot of hate in you. Get some help!

I don't think the team really cares as much about wins at this point in the season as they did when Charlie was playing in Nov, Dec, etc.  It's quite clear that the team has all but shut it down at this point...

Interpreting what someone else says is risky business.....when Jeff goes on to his new team he will have a new life and start over again...hopefully not back with us....

Hate is a strong word and"U" should look up its real meaning if "U" are not aware of it...."U" also should have a nice new life....if possible?

Hard to refute statistics, especially for those on this blog who use them so often to THEIR advantage.

Who is correct! It is had to argue against stats!

"Jeff - 13 games, 3.37 gaa, .894% (last 7-33 goals, 4.7 gaa)....hmmm...league to slow for you now?

Charlie - 27 games, 3.69 gaa, .885%"

Which one of those goalies has better stats?

hmmmm......Jeff was touted as a savior for this team and at $700k a year I and most others would certainly have expected him to be leaps and bound better than Charlie....history on this blog has indicated most thought he would be and should be....stats point out he is slightly better but not worth the price tag to the Ducks in my estimation...again, "YOU" bloggers fail to see the point...Charlie given the reigns would have over time hopefully been like he was last year....however without that consistency....well so the story goes

my goodness I do drag on...would not want to be like other story tellers here....nuff said

Subtlety is not "YOUR" best side.

P. S. - if you are going to quote folks best make sure you try and include all comments pertinent to what you are quoting...not taking certain items out of context...again subtlety is not "YOUR" best quality...I would try another avenue...best of luck

So now Charlie is the better goalie beacuse he is cheaper?

Statistics aside, it's blatantly obvious to anyone who watches these games that the team has quit.  I think that's irrefutable at this point.  That's not to say every player has quit, but enough have quit to give us the results we are seeing at games.  Our goalies have been given a pass all season. While not this team's biggest problem, it was plagued by inconsistency all season. Was it an ideal situation for them this season?  No.  But quite frankly, we need to stop making excuses for them, just as we have not made excuses for the rest of the players.  These guys are pros.  This is their job.  It's their resposibility to be ready to play well when called for.  Charlie had the same chance to play early in the season as Reiter and Cousineau got.  The all had starts.  He didn't play well enough at that time to play consistently, and then as a result, I don't think got enough consistent starts thereafter.  A negative feedback cycle.  But this is pro hockey.  You have to play well when you get your chances, or risk not playing. Either sink or swim.  And he sank unfortunately. Kenny did not.

Yeah, we may have some who quit playing but none that quit the team as happened to Evansville....there is  not an "I" in team.

I have no problem with Robinson leaving the Evansville team.  It's a business.  Just as teams cut, waive, trade, release, or IR players, he is leaving for another opportunity.  We talk all the time about how the Komets don't show up and work hard and how if we did that at our jobs we would get fired, yet criticize if they leave for greener pastures, just as we can in our jobs.  We can't have it both ways.  The guy has a family to support and times are tough for everyone right now.  Having the chance at several more pay checks probably goes a long way for these guys seeing that they don't play year round.  It's not like Evansville is making a run to the playoffs anyways.
