From a Komets press release:
The Komets announced Tuesday that goaltender John Muse has agreed to terms and becomes the first goalie to be added to the preseason roster.
“John is the perfect fit to wear a Komet jersey," Komet head coach Gary Graham said. "He knows how to win, plain and simple, especially when the games mean the most. He has already played a big role in championships both at the collegiate level and the ECHL and we are honored he chose the Fort Wayne Komets to continue his career."
Muse (myuze), 25, snagged an NCAA Crown his freshman season with the Eagles in 2007-08 and matched the accomplishment in his junior year for a pair of national championships. Muse added a third Hockey East Championship to his collection during his senior year and topped it with the 2010-11 Hockey East Goaltender of the Year Award.
In addition to collecting his third Hockey East title in 2010-11, Muse was also named to the Hockey East First All-Star Team and named an NCAA Second Team All-Star while leading Hockey East goaltenders with a 2.30 goals-against average for the second time in his four-year college career. Muse finished his college career with an overall record of 89-39-16 (.674 win percentage), 12 shutouts and 2.40 goals-against average while appearing in 144 games (out of a possible 162 with Boston College).
The East Falmouth, Massachusetts goaltender followed his four-year college campaign with his first complete pro season in 2011-12. Muse split stints between the ECHL's Florida Everblades and the AHL's Charlotte Checkers before capturing the 2012 ECHL Kelly Cup Championship and earning the Playoff MVP Award posting an 11-2 record and 1.78 goals-against average in 13 post-season appearances.
Last year Muse again shared the season between Florida and Charlotte and finished the year appearing with the Checkers in the AHL playoffs. Muse has accumulated AHL totals of 18-10-3 (.629 winning percentage) and 2.50 goals-against average and two shutouts in 32 games while scoring ECHL totals of 25-14-7 (.620 winning percentage), 2.98 goals-against average and one shutout in 46 games.
