Someone please tell me how Schrock outplayed guys like McIlveen, Bochek or Larke to "earn" a spot???

I think Graham was very careful and diligent in his evaluations of all the players and the roles that they would fill. Nobody got a free pass ! If they made the cut they made it because they earned it ! LKS made the cut because he earned it. According to ALL reports he was strong all thru camp and the truth is if he would have scored 2 or 3 goals you would still find fault JR. Not sure why you are so negative day in and day out, but thank god you're not in that locker room coaching cuz there would be a player mutiny for sure !

Ron, you are probably correct on one thing. If Schrock would've scored two goals this conversation wouldn't be taking place. Facts are he didn't. He didn't look any better than those who got cut. He had two fights, but in the other blog I made an argument that it isn't that hard to find a Schrock-like player. His history shows that he won't be an offensive help. He can skate, but remember last season and the twenty-two games it took him to score a goal. He knows he has to score. How many interviews did we read about his realization and hopes that Gary Graham can get him in better scoring chances?
I contend that in last night's game, either Miller or McGrath for Wheeling can play the role that Schrock plays. Not hard to find those guys.
Being from Fort Wayne helps his cause. Fans love the hometown boy, especially one that will drop the gloves. It can be a blessing and a curse. Colin Chin saw the good side. Ron Ullyot and Brandon Warner saw the bad side. Which camp would you include Schrock? Many would like to see Schrock become captain. I remember too many times last season where he hurt the team by taking stupid penalties to honor him with the title.
Just to prove that this isn't a vendetta against Schrock, I would've cut Tuzzalino also. But he's a defenseman and I think the k's need even more help on the blueline. Schrock, on the other hand, is a forward on a team that seems to have plenty of talent upfront.
After re-reading this, it sounds like I'm preaching. I'm not. Just responding to a person whom I've come to respect through his posts.

0 points on 0 shots on goal with 2 fights (that most called draws) against the same rookie player in 2 preseason games = free pass...
^if the above stats were attached to a name plate that read Johnson, he would've been cut yesterday....

Just spent a moment re-reading the article "Komets' cuts show forward depth".
I'm not sure how I missed it the first time through, but in it is mentioned Auger and Fleming being part of a third line. I have no doubt that the author of the article penned it correctly, and as so, a very positive thought crossed my mind.
If Auger and Fleming are only third- liners on this team, then we are all in for a wonderful treat this year.

I might add that Shrock has no problem getting shots on goal,,,its getting them to go in. I also might add was the puck controll Schrocks line displayed the whole, not just a coupl of shifts. A little known stat from last year is he was second on the team on SOG behind Marino.... Alan im not sure why you are down on Tuzz. He was solid from the point, controled the puck well and has that Henely long reach which is a life saver if you are on the verge of getting beat. He is just plain hard to move, proven performer every year of his career. The one game he played here last year I thought, boy would I love to see him in FtW. Not sure if this should matter , but it was also his 1st game Sat.
These blog banterings are one of the things that make us fananics more fananics. My group does it every game and we all think we are great Keyboard Coaches. That being said, im sure coach Graham has spent many hours evaluating every player on this team and if they survived the hours of scrutiny they were under then they made this team because they earned it. This game has evolved into a big time business and nobody is going to make this team just because he is a homie. I dont think there would be one fan loss if Schrock were to be released so i think the arguement that he puts fans into the stands and that why the Ks keep him is all poppycock.

I appreciate your comment, Ron. I think one of the reasons I enjoy reading what you have to say, and respecting your opinions, is the reasoning and common sense you use in your posts.
I, too, was ecstatic with the Tuzzalino signing. Yes, I remember him when he was here the first time, and certainly remember his play with Flint. I also appreciated his "play" as a fan watching an opponent. I can't exactly express my hesitation on him. (Maybe I expect too much). All your points are correct. He has the experience, he has had success in this league and higher, he does have that long "reach". But my sense of the matter is he seems to "cry" a little too much for my liking. I don't know where that may go, but I'm not sure that would be a strong point. That may not make sense, but when a mistake is made, it's like he questions the play first, and then decides to get back into the game.
There will be an article from Blake on Schrock soon. It is a good article and covers many of the hopes, fears, and questions some of the fans have been wondering about. There is no doubt at all that he can skate, no doubt, whatsoever, about his willingness to protect his turf, and I have no doubt at all about his love for the Komets.
This is a pivotal year for him. He isn't satisfied with the way things turned out last year. It seems he's put in a lot of work, and I hope it precludes having the same thing repeat this year.
I, also, trust Gary Graham. He has reasons for doing everything he does so, naturally, I defer to his wisdom and experience.
Except for wanting the Komets to have a great, exciting, and successful season, there is no personal reason on having my stated opinions on Tuzzalino and Schrock. I hope I am wrong! They are both veterans on this team and I hope they lead the team to many wins.
