Tailing the Komets

Would you feel differently?

If the Komets were 1-1 right now instead of 0-0-2? That's essentially where they are. Would you feel better if they just stopped the game after overtime with a tie?

Odd that they aren't better in shootouts considering how often they practice it. There's always some prize for the winning shooter and goaltender, too, and lots of trash-talking going on as the tournament winds down. Based on what I've seen in practice, Gary Graham picked the right five shooters, too, but none of them scored. Strange. At least it's helped prepare the goaltenders.

It may be true that the Komets at 0-0-2 have the same amount of points as if they were 1-1.  But it doesn't feel that way.  The way the game is played, when a contest goes into overtime there are 3 points awarded.  The old days of ten minute sudden death overtimes would solve the problem.  They were changed to the present form to produce a "winner" and not to encourage the visiting team to "settle" for a tie.

Sure, the Komets have two points, but no one should feel good about it.  Their two division foes gained a point each on Fort Wayne.

Analyzing the last two games reveals a game (against Toledo) where they gave up a 5 on 3 goal and a terrible pass that resulted in another.  Last night they blew a 3-0 lead, 4-3 lead with a little over three minutes to play only to lose in another shootout.  Hard to be satisfied gaining two total points under those circumstances.

I don't have the slightest idea why the Komets can't seem to win a shootout.  We should be used to it as last season's team couldn't either.

Fearing I'm going to beat a dead horse, I wish they'd choose to shoot last.  I understand that coach Graham wants to show confidence in his guys, but wouldn't it be worth some condsideration?

Five road games in a row now.  Maybe they need to get out of town for awhile.

I still believe in them, they've played just as good or better hockey as their opponents.

Sometimes it takes a little time for a team to come together.  They've shown flashes of excellence.

I guess the best way not to lose in a shootout is to just win in regulation.

I'm all for taking the 1 point away. Why reward a loser? There are no more ties. You lose, if you lose no points!

Too early for any additional comments. Let them get thru 10 games.

Only wins are acceptable in this town, only way the fairweathers show up.

Hockey rewards teams for mediocrity, oh boy you tied, here is a point for your effort.

Bald is beautiful.

I like the way the K's have played in both games....however in watching tonights game with the Icemen, the defense just showed me the same type of thing again as happened last night and that is as follows:

- offense able to blow right by Tuzzlino for a great shot on goal

- Tuzzlino had a Cyclone forward blow by him in period 2 and score a goal

-Tuzzlino in the third last night made a lazy pass in front of the net and the Cyclones scored

- Tuzzlino took a penalty in overtime

I am not impressed with this guy.  I realize this is game three but a pattern is developing.  I am not sure Mr. Denis-Pepin is any better...he is not strong in the defensive zone and players from the other team seem to pay him no mind.  Sure hope it gets better.

One more thing...Mr. Tuzzlino was just caught out of position again and the Icemen lead 2-1 off of a shorthanded goal.....nuff said.

On a more positive note the goaltender Reichard played very well last night and from what I see, seems to be a more active goalie than Muse....this might be a good trade for us with the call up of Muse....time will tell.

Muse is 2-0 with 2 shutout wins with Charlotte....

Reichard is 0-0-1 while giving up 6 goals in 5 periods thus far filling in for Muse....

Better for the Komets that Muse is gone....do tell....

Another loss and I put this on 2 weak goals given by Reichard. I'm extremely disappointed this team hasn't win a game yet. I'm left scratching my head

Mr. Reichard is letting to many long shots go in. He has alot of work to do to improve to be in this league. Also our Captain has done noting but hurt the team. He better pull his head out too.

Mark 21, I just posted on the other site the fact that Reichard allowed two (tonight) and two (last night) goals from about 20-30 feet out.  I wonder if his eyesight is OK.

I believe in this team but I've been pretty consistent that there are two on this team I would've cut.  One wears the "C" and the other wears an "A".  I believe that the K's need a shutdown goaltender, for my belief is that Muse is gone and will not be back.

Unlike some others, I like almost all the forwards.  The Komets don't need an overhaul, but they need the courage to make some tough decisions on the present roster.

Let's see how they look after the Vegas trip and that 10:30am game in Evansville.  Maybe things will be clearer on Nov 8th at home against Wheeling.

Maybe going independent was not such a good idea after all. Time will tell.

Glad the "White Knights of Koolaidom" are happy with 0-1-2...

Understand the Cody comments based on his two performances, but was not impressed with Muse in his only game here....looked like he had JDitis

Armchair, hmmmm, could be, but then we all are that are on this site....sit back and enjoy the ride and try not to think to much of yourself

The "C" needs to be rethought and may need to go....awa the Denis
