Whether or not it's evident to us, this team proved it can play against anybody.  In a funk, going on the road, visiting the division leader (undefeated), giving them their first loss (and the first game that they've received no points), against a quality goalie, suggests nothing but good things for the future.

For those who attended the Cincinnati game here in Fort Wayne earlier, they know that the komets should've won that game also.

Still, the game is for 60 minutes (65 minutes the first game + the shootout).  You have to learn to finish.  Maybe a little lesson of that was learned last night.  I hope so.

I am still of the opinion that some players have to go.

This was a victory to build on.  A chance to catch some breath and gain confidence, a time for Coach Graham to recover some confidence in his team, system, and maybe himself, too.

P.S.  To Coach Graham and David Franke, don't be hesitant to make moves.  This team has talent, but there are shortcomings.  Flourish the talent by eliminating the shortcomings (no matter who they might be, their salary cap money, or their popularity (or lack thereof).

Wow, Bob Chase, under an assumed pseudo-name has posted a running commentary on this blog...glad to c u Bob....tell us something we did not know!

Denis is out with an injury....as stated several times earlier....he is no loss...for that matter neither is Tuzzlino...nothing in either of their play has shown they are the right players for this team...they may be big and skate well, BUT, they are not playing their positions with any gusto, determination or attitude...they need to GO

King -11 in 8 games.   Does not play Saturday = win.

Not going to rag on defensemen yet. Forwards have to back check.

We seem to have success against teams that aren't physical.  i.e. Cinncinati did not play physical at all and we had room to skate.  Wheeling took it to us physically on our home ice and dominated us.  Our forwards are too small and wear down late in the game when the other team plays that type of game.

As others have pointed out, we should be able to do the same thing to other teams with the size of our defense, but they will not engage physically.

We definately have the speed and skill but that is easily nullified by an physical opponent.  In my opinion, we need some bigger forwards who can bang and create some space.  Looking at the other teams in the league, we have to have the smallest group of offensemen by far.  We also need to overhaul our defense and get some guys that will take the body and clear out the front of the net.

I am a little disappointed that this team has a hesitancy to play physical and aggressive. Gary made it clear that he wanted a gritty, physical team...so either he was just saying what he knew we wanted to hear...or his players aren't following coaches orders. Time will tell...

Points of bigger forwards is excellent....thought we would be getting them before the season started

Also, agree, where is the hitting and checking that as you said was promised?

Hope with new goalie, his age and number of games played we can keep him for several months...however if nothing else improves and we continue with these bumps in the road, Makarov may end up with the same numbers as Reichard...time will tell
