Totally agree with you, Blake, especially since you said Auger's not afraid to speak up in the locker room. We, as fans, don't always know what goes on in the locker room, and who's saying all the right things. I think Chris Auger is the man for the job! Name him captain now!

Blake, I certainly agree with your premise. I wholeheartedly agree with your suggestion (choice) of Auger. Theresa is correct that, as fans, we don't have the privilege of hearing (seeing) who the players are that stand up and speak. That is the kind of player that would make a great captain. I would think Auger commands the respect of everyone and he certainly leads by example.
I shudder to think where this team would be without Auger. For that matter, Fleming too. Hard to think back and realize that they both were fighting for a spot on the third line during training camp!

Second, if Auger is your guy...who loses a letter? Schrock, Marino or Lang???

Number 79 should not even be on the team. As long as the Frankes own the team David will be GM. There lies the main problem.Without a GM that understand this league we will continue to be near the bottom.

I do not usually address comments by person, but this one warrants it....Oldguy45.....Schrock is a draw; ever listen to the fans when his name is announced or when he goes after a player on the other team, intimidating one of ours....the fans around me love him.
If you think David as GM is the problem what would you suggest as an alternative...be a problem solver instead of a complainer.
Personally I like the team.....it is young and needs the guidance of a captain....as pointed out in this article. Chris Auger is that person....we have liked him since he first came on the scene....give it till the end of this season and lets see where we are.

If 79 is a big draw we are in more trouble than I thought. The people I talk to think of him as a waste.
As to what I would do is bage to get Lyons back,fire 79,and get a GM with eexperience. David is in way over his head.
I agree there is some real talent here but for some reason they act like they don't care.
Noting will change because of this blog. The onley way for change is for the people to stay home and us srason ticket holder to fefuse to renue. I know several lng time fans besides me are thinking about staying home.

I'm not neutral on this, let's just be honest about it.
I, too, hear the cheers for Schrock as he is introduced and also hear those around me criticize his mere presence on the team. A fascinating subject for a "college paper" , so to speak. Is his popularity based on his hometown status, his hockey ability, his willingness to fight, his boyishness, his ability to keep things "light", his willingness to go out in the community, or just the combination of everything above (and probably stuff that I haven't thought of as I type).
My own personal thought ( and, I guess, my problem) is that I can see both sides. I'm for any player who makes the team better. The word "better" is the part most trip over. You can make the team better in a myriad of ways.
I think he is a definite "team" player, I think he has ECHL ( and above ) skating ability, I think he has more courage on the ice than many who have donned the Komet logo, but he also does not have a scorers "touch". He is a veteran in a league where they are measured in terms of quantity and, as such, his roster space becomes more precious than before.
Every team needs a player like Schrock. But, boy for the life of me, I wish he'd score 15 goals a year. If he could do that feat, I'd be on his side. Problem is he's 1/3 into the season with two goals. Playing on the third line of a team just barely over .500! You either score goals or prevent them and he's also on the wrong side of +/-.
