And that is exactly why you hear the crowd yelling "shoot the puck" during our power play.

There is no doubt we can get too fancy and make one too many passes, but power play goals flow from puck control. A power play develops as the attacking team cycles the puck. Random shots on the breadbasket do not typically produce rebounds and goals. Control-attack-score.

Blake, any word on injury report on Hughes?

He's been practicing the last two days and could be in the lineup this weekend. Gates has also been skating but will likely not be ready until next week. It's coming in tomorrow's notebook.

One thing that is interesting is Drew Olson who we signed in the offseason as a defensemen is now playing as a forward for Syracuse in the AHL. It would be nice if they sent him down he looks like he throws people around from his videos.

It's too bad for the Komets about Olson and Muse because both would be tremendous assets that they put in a lot of work on during the summer.

Olson is tearing up the AHL.  17 games, 1 goal, 0 assists, -10, and 6 PIMs.  Looks like he would fit in with the Ks third liners.  Or he could be captain.

As for Muse, if you put him in back of the Ks defense, his stats would be no better than Makarov's.

The Ks need more help than either or both of them could provide.

If the Ks want to get a physical third line player, David Franke should get on the phone and call Rochester regarding the availability of Johnny McGuire.  He is a rookie winger on an AHL contract who has only played four games all year.  His last game was a week ago so unless he got hurt in that game he should be healthy enough to play.  He has 36 PIMs in those 4 games so he is not afraid to drop the gloves.  In his last game against Utica, he fought Mr. Lyon if you recall who he is.

I don't know anything about this kid.  All I know is what I see on the internet.  He fits what I think the Ks need and he is just sitting in the stands in Rochester.  He cannot be any less productive than Mangan, Szydlowski, Miller, or King.  I think he would be worth a phone call.
