There should be a statistic for shots attempted but missed the net....it was ridiculous...lost count in the first period at 10....maybe Gary, your team should take shooting drills...might help

Forgot a couple of things...appeared that Royals were slower last night, not that we were any better than the night before.
With what happened with the recent trades, it appears we may have a faction that does not respect Gary; based on the fact that he does not have the major credentials of prior coaches....we have to have the WHOLE team buy into his system...whatever that may be at this time.

After the 1st period, our d-men had their head on a swivel every time they went into the corner to get a puck. They were more worried about getting hit than making a good play on the puck. Good job to Reading for playing the game how it should be played.
I have tried to bite my tongue more this year but the product that we are putting on our home ice is just not acceptable. As so many on this blog have said....losing a game is ok, we just want to be entertained.
A few observations on the first part of the season:
1. We are too small and non-physical.......Even if we wanted to play a physical game we couldn't sustain it for too many games. Our forwards are just too small.
2. Our forwards are fast and skilled (at least our first 2 lines)......The only problem is that other teams have forwards that are just as fast and skilled, and they are just bigger and much more physical.
3. Our offense is scattered and we don't seem to be able to make any kind of adjustments as the game goes on. You can see where other teams adjust to what we are doing but we just seem to play the same period after period.
4. Schrock is the only guy we have that will stand up on a consistent basis. Thank you Kaleigh! He may not have the skill, but he has the heart. I would be happier to watch a team that is made up of guys like him. Again, we can't seem to win on home ice.....at least we woundn't have to watch our team get pushed around.
5. Something is wrong with the leadership of this team. Is it the coach? The leadership from the players? Heck, I don't know.........I am a believer that it all starts with the coach.
6. Our in-game experience has gotten to be very very bland. We used to have a very unique and exciting atmoshphere at the coliseum. Yelling during the starting line-ups, Rock and Roll part 2 after every goal, etc.........i just don't understand why we would take those away?
Bottom line is that this has been the most frustrating season to watch in a long long time. We know what it takes to compete in this league now. However, we continue to put a small, non-physical team on the ice year after year. That is not what the fans want! Our success and tradition has always been built around having an exciting on ice product that plays the game how it should be played.....gritty, hard-nosed, and physical!
We want the Jungle back!

Some observations from last night.....
1. 3rd line played better....baby steps in the physicality department; but I noticed an effort by all 3 to hit more... Kudos
2. Power play looked dreadful.... This is the main area where the drawbacks of the trade of Kwiet and Hughes can be seen. I was not an over all fan of Kwiets game; but he was a good point guy on the PP. Guys were running around and seldomely put 2 good passes in a row together... I think Reading's PK had better scoring opportunities than the Komets PP did. Not sure I've ever seen the 10th forward used on the 2nd PP unit that wasnt a big guy they were trying to plant in front of the goalie....??? Not good enough to get more than 2-3 shifts a period; but good enough for the PP unit? Interesting
3. IMO, Hughes is being missed in a big way. 2nd line center, PP, PK, and calm demeanor on the ice. Regardless of whatever problems existed between he and Graham, he was still laying out to block shots, winning faceoffs, and anchoring that 2nd line. He never gave up on the logo on the front. I respect that.
4. Hartman and Lacasse are becoming a very solid duo on the blueline... Lacasse would have gotten the 3rd star of the game after Makarov and Gill if it were me. He was hitting, getting really good shots on goal that produced rebounds and playing solid defense in the K's zone. I like both players...
5. I have to believe the ice conditions from the compressor problem earlier in the day lead to the appearance of a slow, plodding game...? Both teams looked like they were skating thru mud and guys were losing edges all over the place.
6. I like Embach's game. Wish the Komets had a 2nd line center so he could play wing.
7. I wish the Komets would take notes on how Reading reacted to players getting too close or jabbing at their goalie and imitate... There is a book forming on the Komets and 2 area's you can see opposing teams taking liberites in are hitting our small forwards and taking extra pokes at our goalies... Flemming was mauled on 2 different occasions and it looked like all he did was get too close... I see Komets goalies run, jabbed, poked, slashed and nothing happens except a lil face wash every so often. Makarov took a good slash to his glove covering a puck from a player that was covered by two Komets and they did nothing even after Makarov gave the guy a good poke with his stick after the whistle. That guy should have been pummeled for that!
8. The Komets need to find that happy middle ground between passing too much looking for that pretty goal (Friday) and taking wide open shots, many of which were from just inside the blueline (Saturday). All of which doesnt mean squat if you dont get bodies to the net looking for rebounds...
That's it.... Hearing the Komets could make some more moves or additions to the roster after the holiday freeze. Could be interesting...

One has to wonder how 2 players from training camp that were surprisingly cut would be helping the Ks at this point. Kyle Bocheck 4th in scoring on his team and Paul McEllveen who now is leading scorer at Arizona. Both players heads and tails better than 2-3 players who we brought in. Dunbar also better than those 2 or 3 that were brought in. I hope Santa stops by FtW on his way home. I'm still on the optimistic band wagon..........Now for my rant ! There is something that is irritating me more that the Ks up and down play and that's the big ass drum that Icey beats on. The small one doesn't get to me like the big one, but everytime he gets near where i sit i wanna leave my seat and get a knife and cut it. If he wants to beat a big drum use a Kettle Drum. Far better sound and you can adjust the pitch and actually would put out more sound' but not without being so dam annoying ! lol !

still say this is more of a GM problem. he hires the coach, he makes final decisions on players, he is responsible for product on the ice.
he should hire a coach that a team @ this level will respect, he should bring in players that will respect HIS coach, he either should have developed a relationship with a NHL/AHL team or built a STUD independant team....
bottom line he has failed on all counts.....
hard to fire family, but fake attendance figures won't pay the bills very long.......
