I like the way Meisner is aggressive on the shooter and actively works around screens. With Meisner and Makarov we have a solid pair in net.

Maybe we can keep him for awhile.

I like what I'm hearing from Meisner. He definately has shown some improvement.

heres a case of a backup guy who if given the chance could be a really good addition!!

I thought I read we haven't filled all our veteran spots. I wonder if one way to create a team in the ECHL (especially without an affiliation) is to fill those veteran spots with solid players who because of size or age know they are unlikely to make it higher but who have passion for the game and want to continue playing and leading at a high level. They would be expected to set a tone and expectations.

Chuckitt calls Meisner a "backup guy",  and at 5'11" he might have a hard time getting noticed at the AHL or NHL, but given a chance he could do really well in AA hockey. Recruiting with an eye towards bringing in really good guys, but not necessarily the can't-miss guy in AAA or NHL, might be necessary to suceed in this league. Recruiting players in the summer that we can't keep in the winter, is not a way to win.

While I'm suffering some personal confusion on why the "futures" owed us by Orlando and Utah have not been chosen, and am speculating the reasons why D. Franke has stated "it may be weeks before the 'futures' are settled",  I am very fearful of one thing.

That thing would be that the latest 4-0-3 record has got the Komets brass thinking that they have hit on the correct blend of players.  No one in their right mind would argue that being unbeaten in 7 games isn't a very good thing.  Still, and I hope I'm not the only one who realizes it, the Komets are living off of one line and one player.  As impressive as this last little flurry has been, it would be dangerous to get too overconfident.  Also, as competent as Ouellet and Carter have shown themselves to be, there is plenty of improvement at ALL positions that need to be addressed.

Here's hoping that D. Franke is cognizant of the fact that, for maybe the first time this season, he is working with a chance to improve (not react) to his roster.

Maybe it's a lousy thought to have, when confidence should seem high.  Don't know.  But again, I look at the standings, paying attention to the "lost" column, and see a division that is bunching up.  The Komets are wallowing with 8 games lost, either by shootout or overtime.  While they get a standings point for them, we have to remember the other team gets two.  What do the Komets need to win, instead of lose, those games?  Goaltending, offense, special teams, or defense?  Whatever or whichever, the GM needs to add to his teams' recipe for success, not necessarily change it altogether.

After the initial recruitment, and after the trades, the trade demands, and the latest fiasco regarding Lang, this may be the first opportunity to really slip some missing pieces into place without destroying and rebuilding.

I am afraid that they might just get too comfortable with themselves.  Sitting on your laurels never gets anything done.  I suspect that this team could not survive an injury to one of their scorers because there aren't enough of them.  Now may be a perfect time to fill out that "veteran" spot(s) and deepen the talent level.

If what I'm hearing is true,  you'll be thrilled with the player coming from Orlando.

Usually when it takes this long, it's because a team is waiting to get someone back off injured reserve or a recall so they can free up a body. Another possibility is the Komets were given X number of players to pick from and they are taking their time to decide which one they want.  With this recent stretch, they can afford to be choosy.

Trevor Gilles.....6'3".....235lbs. About the only name on their roster that thrills me.

I hope the player is Ian Slater. He can score, he can fight and he is a leader.

Only 3 teams in our conference have fewer Regulation Losses.

Our conf each team avg's close to a combined 3 for OTL or SOL, we are close to triple that.

Now that we have possibly found our #1 goalie, those numbers should improve.

Chuckitt, if they called him up today, it would take 30 days for the immigration papers to go through. They have not interest and never will.

Dagnabbit, Chuckitt, what's with your double-dealing ways? Now you've affected JR, and let me tell you, one dose of JR's posts is enough... I mean too much for most people! LOL. I'm going to have keep eliminating all your multiple posts.

Has anybody watched a Federal Hockey League game? The play is so slow compared to the ECHL. I dont think they can keep up in this league. Its also more of a goon league.

Blake, I just read your comment posted back to me earlier.

I think you caught my drift perfectly.  Your statement "they can afford to be choosy" is EXACTLY what I want them to be and what I wanted to hear and read.  It implies they are not satisfied, yet are taking their time to pick whomever and whatever they perceive to be the best addition to the team.

No matter what postion this player fulfills, this roster can be upgraded.  Instead of my fear of a false satisfaction, I now replace that fear with optimism.
