Komets add to goalies

From a Komets press release:

The Komets announced today that goaltenders Matt Grogan and Kevin Murdock have agreed to terms and both are expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Komets host the Gwinnett Gladiators at 8pm.

Grogan, 25, recently completed a four-year college career with the University of Connecticut in the NCAA (AHA).  The Gilbert, Arizona native was named the NCAA (AHA) Goaltender of the Year last season during his junior year posting a 1.93 goals-against average and .937 save percentage in 23 games while leading all netminders with an AHA best .738 winning percentage.  In addition, Grogan was selected to the NCAA (AHA) Third All-Conference  Team.  Grogan finished his collegiate stint with the Huskies this season appearing in a career year high 26 games and registering a 2.47 goals-against average and .923 save percentage. Prior to college hockey Grogan skated two seasons of juniors with Bismarck of the NAHL from 2007 to 2009.

Murdock, 23, finished a three-year stint with Lake Superior State this year posting an overall CCHA career goals-against average of 2.94 during his stay with the Lakers.  Murdock appeared in two years of juniors with the Lincoln Stars of the USHL where he led league goalies with 2.24 goals-against average and .920 save percentage during 2008-09 and was named a USHL All-Star.

 

Player moves today-- Larkin Saalfrank (G) has been released as emergency backup goaltender.  Kenton Miller (F) and Jace Coyle (D) have been placed on reserve.  Kaleigh Schrock (F) and Chris Auger (F) have been activated from reserve.

Oh Goody...Craptain Shrock is back. I'd rather have Coyle at forward quite frankly.

Here's hoping these two young men can add some fire and zeal onto this team.  As everyone knows, this has been a season of mostly disappointment.

The Komets deserve a break as an organization.  The statistics of these two are pretty nice and I hope it translates into many wins.  It sounds as if the GM and Coach have done a nice job!

Well Alan...I agree with u this time..but would have liked 2 see GM & coach take u up on your prior discussion of the 2 other available goalies.. time will tell...& very shortly indeed..next several games should tell...
