I just saw that transaction at 2:40pm on Elite Prospects. BTW, did notice that some of the european leagues are starting to wind up. Allen signed a couple of Czech league players trying to find the next guy to replace Jack Combs( who went to europe). One played for Flint back in 2008. Interesting stuff. Looks like Ray Whitney is trying to find a team.

No one can say for sure what the front office is doing or thinking. But even as this article was being set to print, the K's were busy claiming a couple of guys. Syzdlowski's return may have prompted the K's to release one, and it looks as if the Wings also claimed Neal ( and got him).
The point? Well it demonstrates the idea that they recognize the current crop of forwards need more help. It demonstrates that the front office is willing to alter the current roster.
I'd like to think the K's will be well again once the call-ups and the injured return. And I'd like to think that a skill player being added would probably be enough to get them through.
Allen and Reading are "beefing" up for the stretch run. They are using their imaginations with player procurement. I'd like to see the Komets do the same. It doesn't have to be a dramatic number, just an impactful player.
When the roster is whole again, it has a pretty solid foundation. There is no reason to tear it down and rebuild. Just fortify it.

Alan, the thing you must always remember is the CAP. The NHL has to deal with the same thing. You just cannot go out and sign any players out there. Players are choosy also.

Plus, you know some of your higher-priced cap guys are coming back eventually and you have to save room for them. Would you trade space for an unknown at the expense of proven players returning? No way.

Blake, are you talking short term( Crowder, Tam) or long term( Marino, Auger)? ... or both ?
We know that some players will play for much less then their worth, for certain teams, for that better chance to go all the way.

strictly short-term. Faille, Nagle, Schrock, Crowder and Tam.
I don't think the Komets are interested in bringing Marino and/or Auger back at this time.

I agree. Although players coming from Europe do fill some rosters. I think a player or two from the CHL( Canadien Hockey league- OHL, WHL,QMJHL) would be the best long term for any end of season/playoff prospects.
If this team gets back to full "contracted" strength, I again would say its about the best talented Komet team we have seen since the old IHL. Three solid lines and what defenseman are you sitting?

Guys, I'm very aware of being cognizant of the cap and the restrictions it brings.
Maybe some tough decisions have to be made. Maybe there are a couple who aren't performing up to the value of their "cap space". Unless you have those facts in front of you, nobody knows (including me), but I wouldn't just dismiss the idea of releasing or trading in order to better the team.

This isn't fantasy league garbage. This is real life.
