While I still want the K's to press on and leave no stone unturned in their quest to upgrade the roster, I find it very encouraging news with the information regarding Tam, Crowder and Schrock.
With Szydlowski still in Binghampton, Faille still at Texas, and Nagle with Grand Rapids, a promising cluster of players may be poised to inject depth on the roster. Of them all, I think Nagle is the least likely to be sent back soon (so as things go, he'll probably be the first. LOL).
Just doing some tiny research I came up with these facts: Binghampton has 18 forwards, Texas has 15 forwards, and Lake Erie 14 forwards.
I want Fort Wayne players to get every chance possible to improve. But 18 forwards on a team? Or 15 forwards on a team? C'mon.

I just saw on the transactions page that Al Sims and the Evansville IceMen have released his son, Jordan Sims.

Alan, Cincinnati just released Michael Neal. Go to hockey DB and look at his stats. Not sure where he would be in the salary cap. Good size kid. He has to be on a few teams radar

Good morning, RG2!
I followed your advice and looked up Neal's stats. His size is the same as Bushbacher (don't know about his speed, but would have to think he's just as fast), but he's been a minus player almost everywhere he's been. So, between you and me, I probably would pass on him. I don't think he's a guy I would feel comfortable with solving the Komets need as it stands now.
But I think what you may be saying is that Neal is just an example of considering all opportunities...and I would hope that the Franke's and Graham are doing just that.
They need a good "faceoff" player. The need someone else who can put the puck in the net...and unless that guy is from Europe, can fit the salary cap, they are going to have to adjust the roster (trade??) to make it happen. Again, I think they are strong on defense. That is where a trade will have to come from. Some guys (you know who) are untouchable. But in order to get something, you must give something.
Another way would be to analyze the rosters of those teams who probably won't make the playoffs. There are more independent teams so that may uncomplicate some things but regardless, prospective players would have to be available without the complication of AHL affiliates.
Czarnik may have been a good example. He has always played well against Fort Wayne and was traded from Indy to Ontario for "considerations". I hate future consideration trades unless it is just for cash. Some teams could use cash, some don't care.
I hope I'm wrong, but I think there will be no movement because they are looking forward to the call-ups and the injured returning.
Of course the salary cap is a huge consideration. But I would suggest there are some on the roster who I could be compelled to letting go to relieve whatever cap consideration is necessary.
In a perfect world Nagle, Szydlowski, Faille, Crowder, Tam, and even Schrock would be plenty to put this team in a position to win it all. But injuries and other organizations have pecked away at the roster.
My gut feeling is that we, as fans, will be able to see the K's philosophy in action before Feb. 1st. If nothing happens before the Toledo game, nothing will happen at all.

Alan, I saw him here when he was with Orlando and thought he was a big strong kid with some hands. Alot of the time the +/- is dictated by your supporting cast members. All five of you on the ice have to play D/Back check. One guy playing defense well can still have a bad +/- if the other 4 are not. Im sure there are enough guys in the locker room that have favorable or unfavorbale opinions of him or any other player they would consider. Im sure a few on the team are counsuled for any player under consideration. Always interesting to scour the wire to see who is out there.
Good team comraderie with some skill will always trump individual high skill with dissent.

Yes, you sure do, RG2!
And yes, I understand that the +/- is a stat that can be misconstrued by cicumstances. That is the reason I pointed out that most everywhere he has played, he's basically been a minus. Most likely that kind of statistic wouldn't follow him everywhere without some help from nim.
