Tailing the Komets

Szydlowski, Martin are back

From a Komets press release:

Shawn Szydlowski and James Martin have been released from their PTO's with the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters and will return to the Fort Wayne lineup.

Szydlowski was loaned to Lake Erie for the second time this season Feb. 15 and appeared in four games (0pts, 5pim).  The right wing's first trip to Lake Erie was Feb. 7 when he skated one game (0pts).  The St. Clair Shores, Michigan native leads the Komets with 22 goals and has added 26 assists for 48 points in 40 games.  Szydlowski's last game with Fort Wayne was Feb. 14 at Orlando and returns with a four-game assist and point streak (1g, 4a).

Martin was loaned to Lake Erie Jan. 28 and appeared in seven games (0pts, 2pim).  The Winnipeg, Manitoba native is tied with Drew Daniels for a Fort Wayne defenseman best 30 points (6 goals, 24 assists) after 40 games.  Martin, who was a starter in the 2015 ECHL All-Star Game Jan. 21, missed a dozen Fort Wayne games during his stint with Lake Erie.  His last game with the Komets was Jan. 24 when he dished an assist in a 4-1 win at Wheeling.

I love the fact that both Szydlowski and Martin are back.

And along with them comes the fact that they played.  They shouldn't be "rusty".

I have been trying to discipline myself so as to not get too excited regarding the roster until Friday nights.  There always seems to be a change somewhere along the line.  Maybe this week the change will be addition rather than subtraction.  (It's still early yet, however).

I will be interested to see where Graham places Szydlowski.  Does he reunite Lowery and Embach with him?  I would.

This may be going out on a limb a little, but with Martin back, I would sit Barteaux and play Quaile.

Regarding the lineup, maybe a "banged up" Komet may get a rest.  We'll see who gets scratched.

I'm hoping Thomas gets a regular shift tonight (him not being the 10th forward).

As I posted a little earlier, I would like to see Thomas get a little penalty kill time also.  Too me, he's a diamond in the rough.  Speed, skill, and an awful lot of hustle.  Plus he's got a good shot.

So that's what I think.  Going out on a limb, for sure.  Any ideas??

By the way, here is an interesting fact:  Shawn Szydlowski (leading goal scorer for the K's) has played 69 games in the AHL (53 games for Rochester one season) but has never scored an AHL goal.
