He'll have surgery Monday and recovery time is expected to be completed in July. He is expected to be able to play again.

supsoidly mr franke said to a fan at the souviner stand that krug was realeased becaue he was a fighter and they dont need a fighter for the playoffs. im afraid this is a big mistake as he is the only d man besides tam who knows how to hit anybody. this was a terrible move unless there is more to the story.
I agree with you 100% chuck itt. We do need Krug because we all know there will be fights in the playoffs.
Please don't think the fans are stupid Mr. Franke because we are not.
Just to state a fact here, there have been only two fights in the last 10 years of playoffs.
Kalamazoo plays a rough physical game. I see a need for a lot of hard hitting to disrupt their game. Fighting may occur, but the Komets better be ready to hit. Krug was very good at doing that. Who is going to consistently bang around Kalamazoo players for the Komets now that Krug is gone?
very few to answer that question. But if they saw no value in Krug why didn't they release him earlier or trade him? If he did state that as a reason then I think it is a lame excuse and devalues Matt's contribution on the Blueline. He actually logged minuets on PK and made opposing forwards keep their head up. If was a vet issue I always wondered why they brought back Clarke into the fold. They over loaded in their forwards and did something that they really hurt themselves as team by cutting a DMan. They always talk about how difficult it is to find them especially a Vet DMan. Yes I am a Krug fan and have been since he started with Muskegon as a rookie. IMO they have done him wrong twice from a loyalty standpoint, but that is just my view
last comment here to fighting in playoffs always found it funny how hockey in general validates fighting as part of the game but when playoffs start they all devalue its part in the game?? I never understood that stance on any front
I don't think it is as much about the fighting as it is the physical presence and hitting. Kalamazoo has pushed us around all year and will obviously try to ramp that up during the playoffs. I just don't understand the move at all. We rid ourselves of our only consistent physical presence. The one guy who makes their forwards keep their head on a swivel because of his open ice hits and aggressive style. He was a warrior for us all year, doing what needed to be done. Thanks for a great year Matt!
Only 2 fights in the last 10 years of playoffs? Is that Komets playoffs or ECHL playoffs? The Komets had 6 fights in the 2012 playoffs: 4 against Rapid City, 1 against Missouri, and 1 against Wichita. Last year there were numerous fights in the playoffs in the ECHL. All though the physical presence that Krug would bring is more than fighting!
In agreement that Krug brought something to the lineup that most others have refused. That's toughness and the reputation for sticking up for team mates. Not sure about that "only two playoff fights in the last ten years". But since I don't have any stats in front of me, I won't argue it. Seems to me, though, I've seen plenty of playoff fights, especially early in a series as teams try to intimidate each other.
This season started off with so much promise, and now it is ending with a roster which, at best, is staggering toward their first playoff game.
I was hoping to see Perlini get his 20th last night, and hoping for Szydlowski to get a goal in front of his grandfather.
Faille's breakaway was beautiful. He is a very talented hockey player. I'm going to make sure I enjoy the next two games because he's a special player and I know he will be gone next year and this season just may consist of only two more home games.
Looks like there were alot of fights in the playoffs in the 2013-2014 postseason, Hmmm
I am so frustrated with the Komets right now. Krug was the one Komet you could count on to hit and fight when needed. Where is that physical, hard hitting team we are always promised? There is fighting in playoff hockey, unless it is a Franke owned team. I guess we can look forward to watching our goalie getting run multiple times each game without anyone stepping up. Kalamazoo has our number and they are physical. I wish the Komets the best but I'm predicting a short series. I'm done spending money on tickets this season (and maybe longer). I can't stand "Euro" hockey.
Fighting playoff stat:
There were 4 fights in the 2012 Komets/Rapid City playoff series alone. That was the only series I looked up, but I definitely remember there being more than only a couple fights in the last 10 years of the playoffs.
See my post above there were 6 fights total in the 2012 Komets playoff games. Last year there were 21 fights in the ECHL playoffs alone. But if you see the video that the Komets use to advertise the Kelly Cup Playoffs on the scoreboard, 3 of the biggest hits they show were from Krug not a lot from any one else. Like I stated above Krug brings a physical presence other than fighting.
