From an ECHL press release:
PRINCETON, N.J. - The Annual ECHL Board of Governors Meeting was held at The Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada last week.
Harris elected as Chairman of the Board
The Board of Governors unanimously elected Cincinnati Cyclones’ President Ray Harris as the new Chairman of the Board. Harris replaces Gwinnett’s Steve Chapman, who had served as Chairman since the 2006-07 season.
"Ray is an experienced and successful operator and a long-time member of our Board of Governors and Executive Committee," ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna said. "We all value Ray's leadership and direction and I look forward to working closely with him to continue to grow and strengthen the ECHL."
Change to overtime/shootout format
The Board of Governors approved the following changes to the overtime and shootout format in the regular season.
Overtime will consist of five minutes of “sudden death” in a 3-on-3 format. If neither team scores during the overtime period, the game will proceed to a shootout. The number of shooters per team in the shootout has been reduced to three. After each team has taken three shots, if the score remains tied, the shootout will proceed to a “sudden death” format.
The “spin-o-rama” move has been eliminated from the shootout. Should a player score a goal in the shootout while making such a move, the goal will not be allowed.
Two referees for all Kelly Cup Playoff games
The Board of Governors has approved the use of two referees for all games during the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs. The two-referee system has been used during the Conference Finals and Kelly Cup Finals in each of the past three seasons.
Adjustment to end zone hash marks
The Board of Governors approved changing the distance of the hash marks on the end-zone faceoff circles to 5 feet, 7 inches.

Looking forward to watching 3-3 OT during the season and 2 refs in the playoffs... good call for both
While I'm sure a lot of thought had to go in to the plusses and minuses of this new rule, I'm left curious about one thing. That being, if a penalty is called in OT, we will be watching three on two hockey? Never been allowed to just have two players on the ice. So it begs these questions:
How many penalties have been called in OT? Will the ref's be a little more hesitant to call an OT penalty now?
I believe that the "qualifying offer list" is due today. It will be intersting to find out who is included. For the Schrock fans, if he is included, one would presume that he is not retiring or has already signed (just not announced). If he isn't on the list, then we would have to presume that, at the very least, the Franke's feel confident that they can sign him without protecting him (or that he is going to retire).
I am left wondering if he wouldn't be interested in playing in Brampton with Colin Chaulk as his head coach. Does that sound feasible?
Alan, whenever there is a penalty in overtime with three on three, the other team gets additional player so it becomes 4 on 3.
Alan, I need to expound on this. After the penalty is over its 4 on 4 until next whitsle then it becomes 3 on 3 again. It all makes logical sense....... as long as the both teams are on their toes and the ref is not asleep.
Crowder signed in France.
Allen, why do you think #79 would want to go Brampton to play and also not be able to work his "day job"? It seems to me like you are implying that he is unhappy with his current coach and situation? Do you have some inside information you are not telling us? I will wait for your multi chapter answers..
Alan, sorry for the miss spelling of your name. Too all others I am sorry for the typos I hit send to soon. I just got up after a 16 hour work day.
re RCBOATER- I am very surpised how many strong/seasoned ECHL players have signed in Europe over the past 30 days. Some very well known ECHL stalwarts are going overseas.
There is a great website that shows what salary ranges are for both the ECHL and the AHL for 2015-2016. Its intersting on how the ECHL teams are allowed to pay rent/utilities for each player seperate from salary while the AHL teams are not allowed to.
Paul Crowder playing with brother Tim who has been over there a couple years. Maybe last chance to do so. They can be on the same line.
No inside information, Just My Thoughts. Not implying anything either. Just wondering is all.
When we last left him, he was contemplating retirement, right? With that in mind, and the fact that he is a veteran, maybe the Franke's have put him on the "back burner". (A lot of questions will be answered when the "qualifying offers" have been published).
If for some reason that the K's are looking to go a different direction (and I'm not saying they are), and he wants to continue his career, re-uniting with Colin Chaulk at Brampton seems a logical destination. Colin Chaulk knows him as well as anyone in hockey.
I realize every time someone posts the name "Schrock", bells and whistles go off and many on here (not saying you, Just My Thoughts) feel like they've been personally abused. That's OK. He's got lots of fans, for sure. We've been force fed this "leadership in the locker room" issue for a while now. But let's remember that Colin Chaulk left for Italy twice. Guy Dupuis was stripped of his captaincy when Chaulk came back the second time, and the Komets survived very nicely...and even Schrock wasn't the first choice of Graham (Nick Tuzzalino).
With Crowder gone, it only leaves Pistilli as the lone veteran I would sign.
All these things are mere speculation but part of the fun of the off season.
no news is no fun
Schrock isn't going to Brampton.
RG2 - Europe is where ECHL players go once they've given up on their dreams of playing at a higher level in the US and want to make some $$ and/or see the world before they have to get on with their lives. Also, can you publish the link to that website you mentioned? Sounds like it would make for interesting reading.
Komets qualifying offers went to:Faille, Daniels, Sol, Nagle, Pistilli, Martin, Sydlowski, and Perlini. No offer to Schrock, but no way he plays anywhere else. He'll either be here, or selling insurance full-time.
Darn it Alan!!! You post an idea on the internet and now everyone is having a difficult time understanding the difference between the abstract and concrete of idea vs fact. And yes from some days ago, we need the rain but no more than agriculture and their 80% of the annual consumption of water usage for all of California. If I were Schrock, why not try a different town? It might help make him a better person and strengthen his character for when his second career begins. Whether it be in coaching, player development, or something competely outside of hockey, diversifying his experiences will only help him. Im not his life coach but this is what I've done in my career and has helped me. I'm proud of what Mr. Schrock has accomplished and wish he can continue to progress in his career, life, and be happy. On Crowder, he joined his brother Tim in French Elite League Amiens. His brother is a year younger, an inch smaller and same weight. Why not recruit these two after in a later season? Tim Crowder signed a day earlier than Paul.
RonFWA, Here's the link on eliteprospect. Its the Fort Wayne page and tracks within the daily transactions format halfway down the page. Click on his new team, Amiens, and it will take to the roster of his new team.

Ron, we all know why they go to Europe. I think everyone who reads these posts know. The point(s) I was making is that there are a surprising number of well known players this year making the crossing. Players who have been ECHL and CHL regulars over the years. Seems more then usual.
Of course with the Greece situation, the dollar will become stronger and the Euro weeker so this year may backfire on many unless they are guaranteed US dollar equivalent in Euros. May not be a good year to play in Europe with whats going on over there.
google ARTFULPUCK minor league salaries.
Thanks RG2.
This will show you the salary of every player with an NHL contract as of July 1 2015. The guys on the NHL teams are listed first then all the minor league guys below. Player whos contract ran out on June 30 2015 are will not have a dollar amount but listed as too what they are.

Alan, your posting rights have just been traded to the Brampton Guardian newspaper. All f your posts now have to come thru that news service.
orange_koolaid, your description of "abstract vs concrete" and "idea vs fact" was perfectly written. Thanks. Here's hoping that your region gets rain soon, and our part of the world gets some sunshine.
That was funny RG2. If so I'd have to learn to type "defence" everytime I wanted to make a point about the "defense".
The "qualifying offer" list was a pretty complete (not real surprising) group. One thing we know now is that those on the list have NOT signed contracts with the K's for next season. What we don't know is who may have signed before June 30 (and contract approved by the ECHL) just not announced.
We know that Embach and Crowder have signed in Europe, Barteaux traded (and protected by Gwinnett), reportedly Severyn has retired. Only one veteran (Pistilli) so far.
Most of my questions come from the defensive side. Love the fact that Kucera has signed. Glad to see that Daniels and Martin were given the qualifying offers. Not sold on Sol, however. Wondering about Leach's status and the K's opinion on Tam.
Alan, start writing centre instead of center. :) Boy, am I gonna catch some flak on this- I like Sol. I think when he has the right partner he is very effective, albeit that could be said for any defenseman.
I also think if anyone from last year has a shot in the NHL, he does. He is young, has the size and reach. Just need to keep improving skill set. He has the physical tools. Just needs to become a smarter pro player.
I believe Leach was under contrat to Lake Erie last year( not colorado). Not sure if that contracts stays with LEM managment or transfers to San Antoonio?
Ok on Sol..most likely will stay in the E..not fast enough or savvy enough..
Like their choices. .but surely they will be lucky 2 get half back..imo
Both interesting posts, RG2 and Who/Suz.
Here is something that might be interesting and it may delve a little deeper with Who/Suz's post.
Here is the qualifying offer list for last season, dated July 1, 2014:
Ben Meisner
Scott Fleming
Brandon Marino
Aaron Clarke
Christian Ouellet
Dean Ouellet
Christian Ouellet played the entire season. Aaron Clarke retired-then unretired, and played at the end + the playoffs. No one else.
By the way, Kaleigh Schrock and Mike Embach were announced the day before.
This league is too new for me to contrive much significance between the qualifying offer list and the odds of those being signed.
I'm with RG2. I'd like to know what the thoughts are about Drew Daniels.
Sorry. Didn't mean Daniels. Meant to type Leach.
Re: Leach... anyone know his contractual status? free agent?
Shootouts are ridiculous, should be dropped all together. If NBA game ends in a tie, do they do a lay-up contest to decide the winner?
