So now we have lost all four of our veteran players from last season. It shall be very interesting to see who we bring in to try and replace them!

Sorry to see Pistilli go. I really liked him and his leadership abilities. It will be hard to replace Schrocky as captain, but I thought Pistol could have been a good choice. Oh, well. Should be interesting to see what the Komets organization comes up with this summer.

I find it refreshing that the ECHL is exploring the pros and cons of their affiliation "system". With NHL expansion being discussed, I think there are possibilities for good ECHL expansion also.
As far as the Komets, the only NHL team I'm a little wary of being affiliated with is Columbus. My first choice would be Colorado as everyone is familiar with each other.
Sorry to see Pistilli move on. He was fun to watch and I'm hoping for whatever is best for him and his wife.
Now the list of veterans is wide open. Maybe an experienced and proven offensive defenseman. Maybe a perennial goal scorer.

Any word on bringing back guys that played overseas last year? Like Auger or Marino. Did they leave us on good terms? Just curious if we had any chance on bringing backs guys like that. Thanks

I would certainly be wary of Anaheim as well given how useless our prior affiliation was. Perhaps they're already spoken for. As far as the EuroKomets are concerned, I'm not aware that any left on bad terms and some would no doubt be welcomed back. That said, the Komets don't have any particular claim on them and they could sign anywhere.

I would venture to say that the vast majority of players leave the Komets on excellent terms. Every ex-player I have spoken with give the Komets management very high marks. Its a desirable place to play at this level. Im also pretty sure that on the end of season exit interviews management already knows who would consider coming back. Have to remember that these players at best only make $2200-2600 month tops in this league( not including rent and utlities paid by team). There is a strict cap. Most players have agents and they look for more money everywhere, but in this league there is only so much money to spread high to low.
I dont expect to see Marino or Auger back in this league but stranger things have happened. If you can get a guy like Chad Costello ( Colorado eagles)who is a proven scorer at age 30 but commensurate his pay with a great job when not skating, that situation can keep the older scorers in town. getting older = increased responsiblity at home= need more money= get out of minor league hockey and work full time.
Wasnt's Robin Bouchard @ Muskegon one of the top car salesmen in the Muskegon area?

Totally agree, RonFWA. I've listed Columbus as an NHL team I would like to see the K's stay away from but you are correct. Need to stay away from Anaheim also.
And RG2. Chad Costello plays for Allen, not Colorado. He had 41 or 42 goals last season and is signed to play with them this year also.
A few years back, one of the Frankes explained to me the "expectation" of salary a veteran thinks he deserves when he reaches that level. But just to simplify things: lots of things can go into a contract, each team is under the same salary cap rules, but the fluidity of money depends on lots of things ( different streams of income and expenses like rent, concessions, parking to name a few). Allen seems to be able to pay Costello. They didn't seem to sacrifice in other player areas (as they led the conference all year and won the Kelly Cup). In fact, they had the league's leading scorer (can't recall his name, but wasn't Costello) until he left.
With Ontario gone the K's will probably lead the league in attendance. No veterans as of now. It just seems that this is an opportune time to "afford" a couple of special guys.

To answer the question by Curious, Komets say they do not have any interest at this time.
