I want to see Martin full time in the AHL. Its reassuring hearing him mention his interest is in the Komets if he can not sign a deal. GO KOMETS

You can't blame a guy for wanting to move up and bettering himself...and you can't fault Franke for realizing he may have to go another direction. The best thing is that they are still talking, that no bridges have been burnt, and the situation is at best "fluid".
Reading between the lines, I take it that San Antonio has no interest in Martin. The organization knows him. He was called up to Lake Erie last season and played.
Only the Frankes know their plan, but I'm a little afraid they may be walking a "tightrope". That is waiting on a decision from Martin and (maybe) passing on some other quality defensemen. I'm reminded of the Frankie DeAngelis situation where he kept the K's dangling while figuring out what he wanted to do. By the time he made his decision the K's were down to few choices.
It's hard to tell where this roster is. It would be a shame if the K's lost both Leach and Martin. Regardless of what Martin does, they need more scoring.

Hope he can get an AHL deal for himslef. With or without him the defense looks good. Only thing I would like to see now is a left wing to be signed. Rookie, vet, doesnt matter to me. Someone like Josh Shalla would be nice to see. If we can get Montgomery on contract too would be nice. A lot of us seem to think we need more vets but we also need to realize Fenton might as well be one.

Agree about a left winger. Only one player (P. J. Fenton) listed as a left wing. Agree, too, that while Fenton isn't considered a "vet", he's got the experience of one.
Josh Shalla would be a nice fit. Got the size, the statistics, and fits in as a "vet".
I've always been curious about Greg Wolfe. He's a right wing, smaller (5'10" or so), and is the guy that the K's sent to Alaska for the rights to C.J. Severyn. He's a free agent. He played against the K's with Reading two seasons ago in the playoffs. Had some success. He's also a Mich St alum.
If I remember correctly, both Martin and Pistilli signed around the middle of September last year.
Its been two weeks and I'm wondering if the K's are done signing forwards and are just going to depend on who gets sent fron San Antonio.

Why r we keeping Martin's rights when we seemingly had the same situation with Faille..and traded him away? Am I missing something? ...

Yes. Faille had already signed so there was someone to trade with. Martin has not signed yet so there's no one to trade with. If he signs a two-way deal with an AHL team that has an ECHL affiliate, I'd guess then the Komets would look to make a deal with that ECHL team.

So is this the same situation (only in reverse) with this Hamonic kid? His name sounded familiar when this was announced yesterday. According to the San Antonio website, he signed with them on August 6.
Who knows whether he will make the San Antonio team, but if he doesn't, I wonder how this affects any future talks with Martin.
This is extremely ironic (to me). I posted some time ago that the two ECHL organizations I'd stay away from, in terms of trades, are the Orlando Solar Bears and the Alaska Aces. The season hasn't even begun and circumstances have demanded that we've made deals with them both.
