Hamonic has already been signed to an AHL contract by San Antonio. I assume the trade was required for the same reason that Faille had to be traded to Orlando.

With September fast approaching, any additions to the K's preseason roster will be slowing down. The Komets have 23 players on their preseason roster. But it is hard to know exactly what that means. For instance, Brock Montgomery is on the roster but not signed, Justin Hamonic has an AHL contract and may never play here. Unless something unforseen happens, goaltender John McLean will not make the team (his spot will be taken by whoever San Antonio sends down).
Some players (most familiar is Leo Thomas) have an 'invite" to camp. Another one or two are classified the same way. Two defensemen and two forwards coming from San Antonio.
So without knowing the status ( meaning if the following are protected by an ECHL team or not), I would submit that there are some interesting free agents out there. Here is a list of some that I think might be attractive to this roster.
Forwards Greg Wolfe, Alex Belzile, Curtis Valk (who I would love to see the K's sign), Tom Mele (remember him?), and Bruce Graham (who provides size, experience, and scoring from the center position).
Defensemen Justin Baker and Tyler Ludwig. (Of course I want the K's to be able to sign James Martin, but I think the chances are diminishing for that to occur).
Graham and Ludwig are veterans.
Opening night rosters are 23 players (?) 20 active + 3 reserves.
As of today, I think the K's need more help up front than back on "D", but you can never be strong enough defensively.

Thanks for the update, RG2. "Elite prospects" doesn't show him signed.

Alan, thank for the kudos but im rescinding that comment about Greg Wolfe. I had the signing of someone else in Europe mixed up with him. I know nothing about his status. Put him back on your wish list which is a very good list IMO. I like all your players listed

Alan, someone earlier ( different thread)mention Josh Shalla. Great AHL/ECHL tweener. One of those guys that should have stuck in the AHL but just cannot find a spot and gets sent down. ( attitude?, age?, numbers? ) Dont know what his locker room mentality is like or if he would even fit in salary cap space. No scoop. Put him on your list maybe.
BTW your good friend Nathan Condon signed with Gwinnet. Yeah yeah yeah, I thought he had upside potential too...

Yeah, RG2, I saw where Condon signed. Gwinnett has at least three ex-K's now. Shalla would be nice.
