Tailing the Komets

1-0 after one

Matt Reynolds scored 6:32 in off a two-on-one to give the Komets the league. The shots are 9-9 but the quality of the shots is vastly different. The Komets are controlling the front of the Kalamazoo net and Jeff Reynaert has been bouncing around like crazy so far.

Only lineup change is Olivier Legault for Evgeny Saidachev, whom Komets General Manager David Franke said has a hip pointer. He's been placed on the 7-day injured reserve.

Interesting stat I found. Since P.C. Drouin signed, the Komets are 26-8-2. Their power play was at 15 percent before he came and it's been over 25 percent ever since.

Kalamazoo goaltender Jeremy Symington might be out for the rest of the season, according to Wings broadcaster Mike Modugno. Symington was the back-up goaltender on the bench last Saturday against Muskegon when he was hit in the right cheekbone by a deflected shot. He's either had or going to have to have surgery, Modugno said.

The biggest difference between the Komets and Wings might be overall health this season., The Komets have kept pretty much the same roster, while the Wings welcomed four new players onto the team before Thursday's game with Flint. They hadn't even had a chance to practice with the team yet, and one player showed up 10 minutes into warmups.
