AmeriCorps tot

Thank God! Congress has voted to spend $5.7 billion on a bill that will triple the number of AmeriCorps participants at a time when they are desperately needed to help Americans in dire circumstances:

Members of Americorps are now being trained in Denver to help those who aren't yet ready for the switch from analog to digital television.

[. . .]

Starting Friday, the Americorps volunteers will visit homes in the metro area to help hook up the converter boxes needed by some people so they can see the digital signal.

I'll bet none of you ever gave a thought to the possibility that there were needy Americans who needed help with their converter boxes, you callous creeps. As every economic scholar knows, converter-box tragedies can strike the poor at any time, and, of course, women and minorities will be hardest hit of all.

What a Godsend those paid volunteers are.

Seriously, this just get's more ridiculous everyday. It's like the student council from my old high school is running the frickin' country.

To be honest, Tim...I RATHER have my (Philly) H/S student council (class of 1970) running the country...they'd be doing a much better job that the shrubs we have currently "in power".

But it's not we didn't tell a lot of people so...is it now?
