Another George in the White House

There's that wonderful scene in "Back to the Future" in which Marty tells Doc Brown that in the 1980s, Ronald Reagan is president. Oh, yeah? Doc answers. "Who's vice president -- Jerry Lewis?" That's no more improbable than imagining who the next secretary of defense might be:

George Clooney has become one of Barack Obama's most high-profile backers, calling him several times a week to offer advice on body language, presentation and policy.

[. . .]

Democratic sources claim the Oscar-winner has been sharing his views on policy, urging Mr Obama to take a more “balanced” stance on US relations with Israel.

[. . .]

“'George is pro-Palestinian. And he is also urging Barack to withdraw unconditionally from Iraq if he wins,” the source told the Mail on Sunday.

Apparently, Hollywood is keeping a relatively low profile this time around. They think their guy has it in the bag, so why rock the boat? I so wish Alec Baldwin had followed through on his threat to move to France if Bush won. The prospect of having to listen to him gloat for the next four years is unbearable.
