Tailing the Komets

Another note

Winger Justin Chwedoruk, who is playing this season in Denmark, said he'd be very interested in returning to the Komets if his team does not make the playoffs.

``I loved my time in Fort Wayne and if we don't make the playoffs, which is unfortunately a big possibility, I would be very happy to come back to Fort Wayne if the opportunity arises,'' Chwedoruk said.

Last year he scored 16 goals and 33 points in 66 games last year with the Komets. The Rodovre Mighty Bulls are currently 5-15 and in seventh place in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen where six of the eight teams make the playoffs.

The CHL's European signing deadline is Feb. 14, a week before the Danish regular season finishes.

``We'll just have to see where we're at and where he's at at that time,'' David Franke said.

I make this move...yesterday. Chwedoruk brings so much energy!

He leads his team in goals, and penalty minutes. I agree on the energy he would bring.

A few weeks back I posted a question regarding the status of Chewy. In a league where speed, skill, and hustle are a must, Chewy is a perfect fit. Let's be proactive on a player who displays all these attributes and wants to play in Fort Wayne.

That would be a bummer for Chwedoruk if his Denmark team misses the playoffs, comes over here and misses the playoffs again.

I'd love to see Chewy back! He always give 110% and that's something we could use right now.

Chewy would be nice but let's wait to see if we really need him, especially if we're looking at mid Febuary before he can come here.

If the K's have done a good job of gelling and are playing great hockey by then I would be cautious about messing with the chemistry. On the other hand, if they continue to struggle then he could be a good addition. Perhaps he would come sooner, but money could also be an issue here for both him and the Ks, but it will be interesting to see if this develops into anything.

Steve, good plan, there....I think they need to let the lines be if they are working. That's a pet peeve of mine this season....just when everything seems to be gelling...WHAM!! Changes are made for no real reason other than a loss of one game. I can see for an injury. Then, yes you must put another player in. But not for one single loss, and don't switch them each period or shift. Sims seems to have settled down on that for now. I hope he continues with that mode of thinking!

To Steve and BlueLineBaby. Always try to improve your team. Normally I would agree with you both about not changing anything if everything is clicking, and not making changes just for the sake of change. However Chewy brings all the skills that seem to be important in this league. Furthermore, bringing him back isn't exactly like bringing in a stranger. He knows the players, coaching staff, systems, and the rink.

If you look at the team as a puzzle and Chewy as a piece, you wouldn't have to "force" him in to complete the picture. He would fit in naturally.

Alan....I really was not so much speaking of Chewy, per se. More just the constant shuffle, shuffle of the lineup all season long. I really always liked Chwedoruk, although to be honest, he never was the powerhouse scorer a lot of others sort of made him out to be. He was better than others last season, worse than others. But he had a heck of a lot of hustle, and I always like that in any player. I'd surely take that back over laziness any day of the week, that's for sure.

And speaking of hustle, man, I can't wait until Schrock is healed up and raring to go again....it's time for him to break out.
