Who was the shortest Komet?
Michel Briere was a 5-4 forward. He played three games in 1971-72. No, I didn't remember him, but Kevin Leininger did. Anybody got any other contenders? Should goaltenders count in this?
Mike O'Neill was 5-7
Shorty Melanchuk was 6-0
Reynaud Tessier was 5-7
Michel Dufour was 5-6
Dusty Imoo was 5-8 Yeah sure
Anybody got a height for Dan Sanscartier anyone?
Comments
How tall is Irons? I know he's not shorter than 5'4" but he is pretty short. Since he was a goaltender he may not qualify anyhow. Boguniecki was small. Reddick (another goalie). Can't think of anymore off the top of my head.
Bogie, Robbie and Pokey are all 5-8.
this years komets team
How tall is 1-0 Joe?
Little Bobby Rivard.
at least 5-9
Bobby was also 5-9
I guess Rivard was a little taller than I remembered, but weight listed at 150 lbs and 5' 9".
1-0 Joe was a GIANT between the pipes.
Kelli Corpse? Maybe he was 5-7 or so at best.
I know he played as tough as anyone I can remember in a Komets Uniform. That guy played the playoffs on one leg and could carry the team on his back. I respect that guy tons. I'd take a team full of him any day.
How tall was Danny Bonner? My guess would be 5'6 or 5'7. Boy that guy could skate and I believe he made it to the NHL. I remember the organ player at the games would play "short people" when he scored a goal. Man am dating myself I bet most people did not realize that we use to have an organ player at games. Can anyone name who played the organ at the games? What section was it located at?
sec 1
JACK LOASE
Blake, I saw that Port Huron released Brad Melhalko the teams second leading scorer. I am always curious when you see a guy like that go....any info????
Smitty: You are the man....
Danny Bonar was my favorite player back then and yes, I remember Jack playing the organ. Guess I'm an old fart, too!
Mike Wiggins 5'8"
JR...
Mehalko from Port Huron asked for his release from the Flags so he could go back to the ECHL Bakersfield Condors and play. From the looks of it, he quit on the Flags for selfish reasons...
Steve Murphy who played here for a short time in the late 70's was 5'7". He was a point a game guy we should have held onto.
Bonar 5-8, Murphy 5-7, Corpse listed at 5-11, probably actually 5-10.
It was Jack Loos. Did it for 40 years until he retired in 1996. He passed away in 2001 at age 81.
Yes Jack Loos was as much of komet hockey as anything.
BTW, if anyone knows the name of the song that Jack Loos used to play to bring the team to the ice, I would love to know what it was. I believe it was a college fight song but not sure which. I have tried unsuccessfully to find recordings of Jack because I know they would add to the game. Some of the organ music available isnt the best, but Jack always knew what to bring to the game.
Larry, ask Bob, if that fails ask George D., and if that fails ask Eddie. Eddie never forgets anything.
ive been racking my brain for the name of the song and its on the tip of my tongue! i should know it since i sat next to jack for about 25 yrs. ill keep thinking........
