Tailing the Komets

Are you starting to believe?

How big was that tonight?

Three things I've noticed of late: 1. They are relatively healthy, meaning they've pretty much had the same lineup; 2. They are starting to come from behind and win some of those games; 3. They are getting offensive production from everyone.

That's besides what has been exceptional special teams play of late. And I think they are playing more physical. Maybe not to the satisfaction of some, but they are getting more involved in the games.

C'mon be honest, how many of you thought they'd win tonight?

Check out the schedule for the next 3-4 weeks. This tear could go a ways.

that was huge...the Komets played outstanding...I'm more and more impressed with Hukalo..the Komets pretty muched dominated the play during the 2nd and 3rd period. Jorde had another outstanding game. He is becoming a huge addition, but you already knew that. And Frenchy...impressive...

GO KOMETS

Blake tonights game was a huge win for the K's. I am starting to believe, more than I did about 2 months ago. Coming from behind tonight has to be a big confidence boost to the team. I still think they are not playing all that physical, but much more than earlier in the year. Yes I think Jorde has taken a leadership role and his play has been solid. Hukalo is just now starting play like he did last year. How about him battling back from the shoulder injury. Hunter maybe starting to get hot and at the right time. We have another shot at an 8 point week, but we must remain focus with QC coming in on Friday, the generals on Saturday, and a trip to see Duey and the Otters on Sunday. I see us playing somewhat of desperate hockey which is good.

I like the way they are starting to play. I still think they can play a lot better but playing with 5 defenseman too many nights will come back to haunt you. Jorde, Neumeier, and Guinn are logging a lot of minutes right now. We need to get Bozoian healthy and hopefully Sellars signed so we can have some depth on the blue line.

By the way, I'll admit it....Rob Guinn played a solid game tonight. I have been one of his biggest critics this year but he played well tonight. He made a great play at the blue line and then a great pass to Chaulker for the game winning goal.

Id agree, get our defenseman back to healthy. I hope Sellars signs here, and he could be a valuable addition, if he can skate and play..I hear his knee was in bad shape...

Yeah its a huge win. I'll admit that I had very little confidence. Maybe I should rethink the Komets. And by the posts, it seems like others are a bit impressed too. Now if we blow a game this weekend hopefully us fans can forgive it...maybe...just this once...although 8 points sure do sound good right about now.

I hate posting two in a row but hey it happens. I was just thinking of defensive lineups for the Komets. If we snag Sellars I think he would work great with Bozoian. I'm not expecting Sellars to be a real speedster right away with coming back to hockey after a long break with a knee injury, but he does seem to have experience and grit. Bozoian is probably our fastest defenseman plus he's not a bad shot. Sellars is known for some grit and Bozo makes some checks. With that combo we got the knowledge, the speed, the offense, and the physical presence in the defensive end. Then again I've never seen Sellars nor know what he can still do anymore so I'm going all on hear say. But I do like to pretend I know something sometimes!

The boys played great tonight. I hope they can keep it up. As someone said, 8 points does sound great right now. Bring on QC, Flint & Mizzo. I think I just might have to go to Mizzo, especially if they keep this up as I know they can if they just keep their head in the game.

Go Komets!

I'll admit it, Blake: I really didn't think we would win last night. After all of our previous games against Rockford, I basically turned on the radio and expected us to lose. But 4-2?? And we didn't blow it this time? LOL

Glad to see you can admit when Guinn plays well, JC! :-) I loved hearing Bob Chase go, "Ohh, and Guinny just laid a heck of a check on Johnson! Johnson's slow getting up from that one." LOL

The win was great. I am starting to believe. They just need to be careful not to slip up on teams they now should beat.
The only negative thing I came away with was that I am starting to think that maybe the reason there isn't alot of hitting going on is because 9 times out of 10, a big hit results in a penalty. Am I incorrect? I have only been down so far for 3 games this year so I haven't seen alot of how games are being called and Bob can sometimes see things through orange colored glases.

I was 50/50 on the game against Rockford, naturally I'm tense when we play these kind of games because I'm pulling for the win. I didn't get to listen to the game..and I'm regreting that.. so, Komets - Rock the Jungle this weekend!!

I think your right there Tony. The most inconsitant, dare I say uneducated part of the UHL has to be the refs. Not all are too bad and ya gotta keep in mind that they won't see everything that we see or in the angle in which we see it naturally. But do any of them actually know what a boarding minor is? Or has the rules changed this year? Seems like the rule the refs go by is checking is ok unless its a big hit then that is illegal. And I can't say they are targeting the Komets because I see them calling penalties on teams we play that only make a good (legal) hit.

I've believed all along, although in my prediction for the year i didn't have last night in the win column.

I'm revising my point total from 96 for the year to 101. i'm still going to keep us as the 6th seed in the playoffs and possibly a second or third round home ice advantage.

And no i'm not crazy, the way its stacking up and the way i see it stacking up we could see a few top seeds losing in round 1. Motor City and Muskegon could match up in round 1 and that series is almost even for the year, Muskegon 4-3 advantage. Rockford could match up with Quad City, QC could turn it up a notch and knock them off and i'm counting on the K's to knock off their first round opponent.

As long as this group of guys stays healthy it will be a real nice finish to watch.

It was really nice killing Rockford's winning streak for the second time though. Once on our Ice and once on theirs!

I do think that Rockford and Muskegon will see more losses through the end of the season. You just can't keep playing at the level they have been playing all year.

Hey blake, maybe the NS could rent out one of the rooms at the coliseum before the game and you could feed all us bloggers, better yet i think Ft Wayne newspapers has a suite, you could have a party in there for us, that would be sweet!

Luke Sellers is going to danbury. this stinks. but i don't think that he could play with that knee.

Afraid that's not going to happen guys, because then they wouldn't have enough money to pay me! LOL. Usually I have to pay money to have people come see me -- but that's an entirely different matter. More on Sellars to come.

are all you rookies still starting to believe? ive told you all year this team is lacking in the physical end of the game which means they dont have a killer instinct. once again they go to rockford and win and all you people with rose colored glasses start claiming the komets are the next best thing to sliced bread. then they play a team from quad city that has no talent at all and we lose to them at home. this is our team people, they dont have the guts to dominate when they need to. st pierre gets slashed tonight and where were the five guys on the ice to stick up for him???? start getting ready for next year. chaulk drouin goodwin galbraith neumeirer dupuis jorde and maybe a couple more thats it. too many guys who fit the same mold and too many guys who arent ready to sacrifice for their own teammates. remember, ist round and out. sorry but thats the truth.
