Tailing the Komets

awesome try

Awesome effort by Scoop No. 3. I'll bet your arm feels like it's hanging from a thread. Very impressive. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that if you could have caught the right wind gust it would have made it.

Wow, is this game rough or what? Goody is out with a broken nose off a hit by the Flags' John Glavota.

We'll see if this is the first time all season the Komets come back after trailing after two periods.

Blake,

This was a tough game to swallow, the first time Port Huron has beaten the Komets in regulation this season..

I came away satisfied with the effort the Komets put out, but when you have Frawley playing on the 1st line with Chaulk, then you will have problems..

Symnington played well, but most shots came from outside...so they were easy stops..

Lets hope the Komets get healthy real quick

Crappy Game, Lost weekend. I am sold now that the Komets must look to improve by signing or trading for a player or two. I'm not going to name specific players because everyone will go bezerk about being negative, but there a few forwards and at least one defensemen that looked awful tonight. If Galbraith is out for a long period of time, we could be cooked. A couple of the younger forwards look lost out there. I realize they don't get as much ice time, but man, if we have to count on them, we're in trouble. Can't wait for PC and Hunter to get back. But I still think we need a couple of more solid guys for the playoff run. One particular defenseman better start figuring out what the heck he is doing out there quick. How many times can a veteran player get out-skated and also give away the puck over and over? He should know better.

The whole Molly McMaster thing left me a bit confused. If she was wanting to raise awareness for her cause, why didn't she address the crowd during the intermission? Talking to the crowd about her experience would have gone a long way. Also, did anyone see her autographed player card? What kind of message was that sending to young girls? I was just a bit confused about the whole thing.

Hit Somebody..

Was it a crappy game because they lost, because like I said, it wasn't because of effort..the effort was there, you can definitely tell that the Komets didn't have that much talent on the ice tonight..but you know what, they played hard..they still had a chance to win, the puck just didn't bounce our way tonight..that happens..look at Muskegon..they got beat by lowly Missouri last night, then got pummelled by Kzoo today..it happens to every team..

I understand you being a fan and wanting the very best on the ice, but when you have Drouin, Galbraith, Goodwin and Hunter all out..what do you expect..thats alot to overcome....its a hockey game..there are more of those to come, its only 1 lose..lets get over it and move on to next weekend..heck, we could be Missouri, or Roanoke..

What did I miss besides the lousy game? What is this about her card?

Port Huron? and the loss to Quad City erases the good effort on Friday. That is what I mean. If Galbraith is out for the season, we are in trouble. He is the only guy, or one of the few, that plays hard and tough and makes plays on the ice. I'm afraid the fill-ins can't play at this level. We had at least 1 fill in on every line tonight. I know the effort may have been there. But you have to beat Port Huron. One of our Veteran Defensemen cost us at least 1 goal tonight, maybe 2. I guess that is what you run into when you acquire third-liners or worse to fill patches all season long. And I realize it has been said that it has been hard to find anything else.

Guys were lining up as far as the eye could see to get autographed player cards of a half dressed picture of her. Just curious how this promotes hockey or her cause. I think it may have cheapened the whole thing. I still think she should have spoke to the crowd. My opinion.

Gheesh Sadly I can say being a card dealer that as with many other things, sex sells. I am shocked though that she would use that to further her cause.

What is our Sunday record? It has to be awful. Can be eliminate Sunday games next year since we don't show up for them anyway. Or either does the fans. If there was really 6,000+ there tonight, I would be shocked. Looked like 4,000.

Hit Somebody-

No doubt these 2 losses erase what the Komets did on Friday. But, I came away satisfied with the effort. These guys who you say can't play at this level, almost beat a team who is playing basically at thier potential, applaud them for that at least.

The bottom line here is we had a chance to put some distance between us and QC and gain ground on the Frostbite. With that being said we gave 4 points back to QC who got 4 out of 6 points this weekend. I watched the Rockford and Danbury game Sat. thanks to the B2 network. What a game, 3 seconds end Watson and Wingfield go at right after the puck is drop. Sending a message to Rockford not to expect to come into our house and push us around. Big Snake and MacIsaac go at it later and it was a knock down drag out fight. Big Snake took a swipe at Danbury's goalie. We do not even come close to the toughness of Rockford or Danbury. They only thing we match up well is goal tending. I am not sure there is a trade the K's could make because we do not have anyone of value. Who could we move to get something of value?? I just don't see anyone of true value to move.

That level of play beats which of the playoff teams? That is what scares me the most. I like the effort too. But we have a guy on each line that is going to have to contribute out there or we are dead. Port Huron is at the bottom of the Barrel. We cherry picked one of their 3rd liners that ends up being a center on one of our lines? We have to go out and get a couple of more talented guys. I'm not sure if there is anything out there. I hope Roanoke or Missouri is in a giving mood. I'd like DAB and Littlejohn please!!! Dreaming, I know.

David, be careful, no one on this site likes to hear the fact that the other playoff teams are tougher and meaner than we are, not to mention more talented. Wasn't it our Captain who said after a road game at K-zoo that this team must play physical every night to make up for lack of talent to be successful? Have we seen anything close to what teams like Rockford play? I'm with you on this one David. We have to figure out how to play with pride and intensity at home in particular, or every team that comes in will eat our lunch. Even though everyone on here has been converted to the Euro Hockey style that has been shoved down our throats here. Funny that the other Playoff teams are playing a rough-house style and doing it with talent. Why not here? We pay enough for it. Season Tickets are going up again.

On the other hand, Hit Somebody, On most nights those guys won't play as much as they did tonight. When you lose 4 guys off your top 2 lines, you are going to struggle to score goals. Thats just what happens, its hockey..

That line score is just a figment of your imagination David. No one plays that style anymore. At least that is what we are told to believe. Fighting is dead, tough play is dead. Let the other teams beat the tar out of you and like it. I was told that 95% of penalties don't need anyone to stand up for another teammate. Then what about the other 5%. We don't back up anyone any more. Welcome to the Jungle. What a joke.

In the playoffs, Mark, we will have to rely on the guys who played tonight, I guarentee we won't be 100% healthy just like last year. Plus, the rest of the league knows, hurt the Komets skill guys, and the house of cards fall, and no one will do anything about it.

David
Sun, 03/12/2006 - 6:56pm

Hit I thought that would get you going a little.....That is my response for JC article about fighting in general..Muskegon and Kzoo have had two of these type of games in each others buildings. Funny thing is, they all got into it, not just the "tough" guys.

The losses this weekend do not waste the effort put forth Friday. The effort was there again tonight for the most part. The guys we have playing in key positions are not finishers and never will be. That is what you have to work with when you have what we have out of the lineup. Goes to show you that we can be good when we have everyone and we can be no better than the bottom feeders when we are forced to play who we did tonight.
I sure hope we can pull something out of our hat before Tuesday because I don't feel confident right now about Galbraith coming back at all, let alone being a the impact guy he has been over the last few weeks if he does.

The same players we value will be the same others would put value on. I don't think we make any trades unless a team does a real dump. A player found would be something along the lines of the Campbell or Sellers situation. That is why I hope something can be pulled out of a hat. It will make for some interesting comments if one of our competitors makes a big splash while we sit idle while playing the chemistry or salary cap card.

I disagree with the "not tough" comment. There is more to toughness than what shows up in a boxscore to a game that you probably did not see to begin with. The Komets can be every bit as tough as Rockford, K-zoo, or whomever. The most defining charactoristic of this team is its consistancy or lack thereof. A close second would be the ability to dictate their own play upon its opponent.

Hit Somebody!!!
Sun, 03/12/2006 - 7:58pm

I won't touch that one Scoops. I think I have harped enough. If you feel comfortable that we are as tough as Rockford, K-Zoo, Muskegon, or Danbury, you are definitely entitled to your opinion. I as a fan, fear those teams toughness. I am not sure we can hang with them. Definitely without Lance. He's the only guy who will mix it up some. Hukalo made nice hits tonight.

The one thing we do agree on is, if we don't improve our line-up somehow, we are in trouble because there will be injuries, and other teams in the playoff run will improve their teams before Tuesday.

Last I checked we were playing hockey, not ultimate fighting. If we had line everyone up and had a fight to get goals, then yeah...we probably will come up short.
If we out work, hit, hustle, and St. Pierre is on his game we can "hang" with anyone. Those teams do play more of a rough or goonish style which we shouldn't get all caught up in. That is what they do to get you off your game. Working and hustle is up to the players and what kind of heart they have. Checking is hockey 101. Everyone who is dressed can hit just as hard as everyone else and as often as anyone else.
To me I think we could catch some of these teams off guard if we came out like gangbusters hitting everything that breathes. We're Euro, right? LOL

Hit Somebody!! & Tony E...and whoever else isn't paying attention to real details of the card:

Check out the nice big scar that runs from her waistline up her abdomen.....that's what the card is trying to show off!! Bet you didn't notice that did ya? The whole point that she is trying to get across is that it could happen to you if you don't get checked out for colon cancer. And if being in a bikini is what it takes to make a bunch of meatheads aware of colon cancer and related diseases then that's what it takes...I'd show a little skin and show my matching scar too just to make people aware. Next time take a look before you start spouting off about something.

For those of you that missed it, Molly's card had her in a red bikini with hockey gloves on and a stick. Tony E...my bad...didn't catch your post asking about the card. Just saw the one where you mentioned that sex sells. And you are right saying that sex sells...that's why she took that approach...to get people to look.
