Axtell hospitalized

The Quad City Mallards' Phil Axtell was involved in an automobile accident earlier today and has been hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

``As an organization our thoughts are with Phil and his family as are our wishes for his speedy recovery,” said Mallards President Chris Presson.  “We will make further details concerning Phil's condition available as soon as we are able to do so.”

Axtell, 24, joined the Mallards this season after not playing most of the prior two campaigns.  The New Windsor, Maryland, native played college hockey at Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan.

Glad no one in the house was injured. He's lucky he didn't end up like Robin Big Snake
