Big Harry deal

Oh, good grief:

For one group of about 20 friends who were counting down the hours until the midnight showing of the latest and last Harry Potter film, the movie signified the end of an era.

"It's almost like watching your childhood come to an end because we all grew up with these characters," said Tabitha Bolling, 19, of Red Lion.

Guess it's time to grow up and "watch your adulthood" then, as shallow as it might be.

Oh, I can see it. The first Harry Potter book was released in 1997. For a 19 year old, born in 1992, the first books may be ones that mom & dad read to them at bed time. The first movie came out in 2001, when that 19 year old was nine. By the time the last book came out, the person is 15 years old, and now, off to college as the last movie is released.

It's a thread that has run through the lives of a lot of young people. Probably my views are influenced by the fact that, just last night, I ended up reading to my son for 15 - 20 minutes past his normal bed time because we were in the middle of the second challenge in the TriWizard Tournament, and I really couldn't see leaving him hanging in the middle of the challenge with Ron & Hermione's lives on the line.
