Tailing the Komets

Books are in

"Legends of the Komets" is now available at Komet Kuarters and will be available at Komets games starting Jan. 30 for the game against Port Huron. Several of the legends profiled in the book will be available for autographs that night.

There are 13 names hanging from the Memorial Coliseum rafters on the Fort Wayne Komets' retired banners. It's amazing how many of them experienced personal tragedies while growing up only to become successful in their careers. It's amazing how many of those men didn't want to be in Fort Wayne when they first arrived, yet none would ever leave now. They first became part of the team, and then part of the community. While they were Komets, the impact they had on people's lives is astonishing as there are thousands of stories about those men and what they meant to their fans. This book's goal is to rekindle some of those memories for all those who saw them as their heroes.

The book also includes a "Where Are They Now?" section of more than 800 former Komets.

The book costs $20, and can be ordered on-line at Authorhouse.com by searching for the title name.

Congrats, Blake. Must be nice to see them on the shelf. :) Now that you mention it, I always wonder about that -- the way when a player moves to a new city, they are immediately asked by the media how they feel about being there. Of course they are expected to say only good things, but knowing how hard it can be to relocate, I always wonder what they are REALLY thinking. It is nice to know that Fort Wayne grew on them and that they love it here now.
