Bouchard scores record goal

The International Hockey League is proud to announce that Muskegon Lumberjack right wing Robin Bouchard netted his 683rd career goal to become the all-time minor league goal scoring leader this evening. Bouchard passes former Bloomington PrairieThunder forward Don Parsons (682), who has not played since the 2008-09 season. The record-breaking goal was Bouchard's 56th of the 09-10 season.

Bouchard scored the record breaking goal at the 14:10 mark of the first period Sunday against Quad City, putting the puck past Mallard goaltender Jerad Kaufmann. Muskegon's Nick Schneider and Todd Robinson assisted on Bouchard's record breaking goal.

The 36-year-old Jonquiere, Quebec native is playing in his 16th season of professional hockey. He began his professional playing career in 1994 with the Roanoke Express of the ECHL. This season, Bouchard recorded his fifth 50-goal season. Of his 683 goals scored so far in his career, 556 of those have come as a member of Muskegon.

As a fan of the game and someone who appreciates the history of the sport...I say CONGRATULATIONS!

After I knew he had two in the first period (was positive the first goal would be his on review), I told my buddies at the game that I was "suspending my Komet fandom for the night in the hopes he would get the hat track...but we'd win 4-3." Oops!

Hat off to the "Bouch-Pit" gang for travelling down. With so little left to cheer for (hockey-wise) in that city, was good to see.

Sure would be nice to see #32 in orange next year...might be 10+ home games to get used too, but once he started filling up the net, we'd start cheering...just like Scott Gruhl.

I'd prefer not to see him ever wear orange.

It says a lot about a guy that can stick around long enough to break that record. Congrats.

He should be grateful that a "prison rules" league let him play in it.

I still don't like him. He would probably make the NBA with his all-offense no defense playing style.

Great point Dan.

Funny that the league he itched about and ran away from to the CHL, only to come back, is the league he uses to get his record in.

Good player. No doubt. But I don't really like him. I am not in the minority either.

No you're not, Hit- I can't stand the guy. I'd rather see Parsons still have the record, even as big a tool as he was.

I'd rather see Billy Collins in black and orange....and I can't stand that guy.

I'd rather see DiPace in a Komet jersey, even though Mom would have to come up with a new nickname for him... :)

LOL....yeah. She's clever enough. She can find nicknames for the other opponents, I'm sure.
