Tailing the Komets

Boucher is GOW

The Central Hockey League announced today that Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the period ending January 9, 2011.

In recognition of his achievement, Boucher will receive a special gift from Oakley.  To learn more about the wide range of Oakley products, visit www.oakley.com.

Although he won just one of his two starts last week, no goaltender in the league was more impressive than Boucher who allowed just one goal in each of his two appearances.  The Leduc, Alberta native turned away 61 of 63 shots (.968 save percentage) earning three of a possible four points for his club.  On Saturday, Boucher made 40 saves in Dayton leading the Komets to a 2-1 win.  He came back less than 24 hours later and went nose-to-nose with Quad City's David Brown (Oakley CHL Goalie of the Week last week) taking a scoreless tie into overtime.  In the extra session, Boucher and the Komets were beat just 11 seconds into the OT.  Boucher stopped 21 of 22 shots in Sundays overtime loss.

On the season, the 5-10, 175-pound goalie is 8-9-3 with a .905 save percentage but is 4-0-3 in his last seven decisions allowing just 15 goals during those games.

Legs challenging bloggers and fans to a fight is like "between the pipes" "off the blocker" etc. challenging bloggers and fans to a fight.

Baaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahah! Hey Hit, you just wish you could play at this level for the Komets, that's why you're bashing him. If you don't like how people talk on this blog, why don't you buy it from the News Sentinel and write it yourself. All classics.

What level are the Komets playing at?

Last Place?

Good Point RK.

RK, what do you mean you don't like Big Macs? You don't make Big Macs. You don't even take out the trash there. If you don't like how the Big Mac tastes......then you should buy McDonalds and become Ronald McDonald and fire the Hamburglar and Eat the French Fry Guys and make Grimace wash his hands before he makes your Big Mac.

Otherwise.....RK=No Opinion.

I have a cheeseburger wrapper, 3 French Fries in my couch, and a 6 autographed Ronald MacDonald Classic Cookie Boxes :) Buckos.

And the Komet Players do have the "it" factor.....it just happens to have a "SH" attached to the front of it right now.

Hit, this is a blog. Nobody needs to justify qualifications to have an opinion. It is for others to decide if the opinion is valid or not. I didn't see anyone attacking you. But I admit I skim some postings without reading them fully so I might have missed it.

As far as the team goes...
I thought Chaulk was going to be the answer to all of these problems....
Seriously I am glad people are realizing he can be a small part of the solution (maybe) but that is it.
At this point I hope they do not make the playoffs.
Next year I want to see a complete overhaul of this roster. I mean everybody. Ok...at least 15 new. I don't want to see anyone over the age of 30 and most of the roster under 25. I want guys who still have the dream of moving up not dreams of selling signs or insurance. I don't want guys who were part of the previous 3 cups. I want guys who want to raise 3 banners of their own.
So when I buy the team this summer dagnabbit that is what I am going to do! lol.

1-1-1 with Chaulk here and people now realize he is only a small part of solution (maybe)?? You think this proves to everyone he is somehow not as valuable as thought? Still a large part of solution. been 3 games and 1 week. Just b/c they didn't sweep his first weekend here doesn't prove anything either way.

incidentally our defense with him around seems much better. PK was better. Just can't score still. couple changes to come and I think Komets will finish out the season just fine. Win it all?? nah... close to middle of pack. good chance to upset someone in play-offs, then off to play some golf. sounds like a good end to a terrible season there.

I agree that the jury is still out. I was looking at some stats the other night to see if there were any obvious patterns emerging for the last few weeks, but there simply wasn't enough data to tell much of anything. If anything, the situation is looking up. The K's have only had 1 regulation loss since the 22nd of December. But with the SO and OT losses thrown in there too, it could still go either way.

Anyone who agrees to meet up with someone to fight via the internet is A)crazy and B) better be prepared for their opponent to be just as crazy (and probably more so).

What do people expect from Legault?? I'd only be able to take so much bad talk about me from bloggers before I said something. The komets have never appreciated what he's done for them. When he was told to fight he did! Do you expect him to act like Mac and bash some guys head in to make the fans happy? If the other guys won't fight he can't just fight them! Then you'd complain about that now wouldn't you! Legs has always loved playing for the K's and that's what we need! People who care about our team. He appreciates his fans and acknowledges them when they say hi unlike some other players. I think he's done good this year when people would actually fight him. I would of liked to have seen the K's actually give Legault more play time to prove himself. I think its a loss for the K's to have waived Legault.

To quote Catwoman, sickos never scare me. At least they're committed. I'm just saying that if you're going to arrange a fight via the internet, leave the cannoli, take the gun.

Snuf - Chaulk had been best player for the komets year in and year out with all things factored. He will be again. win or lose. 1-1-1 is way to early to use as evidence to point either way i suppose.

He seems to be linked to this whole age thing..I understand your whole "get younger and newer" theory. But top to bottom on roster is doesn't work that way. Go look at CHL leaders. you have every age group in the top 10. Some of the best players in all of hockey are over 30.. and MOST of the best players in hockey are over 25. So hating on Chaulk or any other player b.c you think they are too old is out of line. research the stats before you "wish" for this young run and gun team you fantasize about. If all you want is young then go watch college hockey. Quality professional hockey consists of a roster with many many top guys 25+.. Just look around at rosters if you need proof. Would honestly take me all night long to link it all to you. Do the leg work yourself.

Komets123...to say I "hate on" Chaulk (or any other player) is taking it a bit far.
I have always said I respect everything he has done for this team in the past. I have said his number needs to be raised to the rafters the year he retires. I have said he is in the conversation as one of the 20 Komets of all time.

None of that will change my opinion that for this team to move forward into the future it needs to stop reaching for its past to fix its problems.
