Boucher on Magers

``Since his time in Port Huron, he's taken to yapping in warm-ups, shooting pucks at me in warm-ups, so for whatever reason he seems to concentrate more on that than stopping pucks. If that's the way he's going to go... To me, he's a Southern Pro Hockey League goalie. He's played in nine games this year so he's pretty fortunate to have a job at this level in my opinion.''

Didnt Larry Sterling say something along those lines a couple years back about a Komet? Maybe Haun?

Pretty rancid comments about a former NHL fourth round draft pick.

if you look at this weekends games, it showed how weak the Thunders goalie's were... last night was rebound city and tonight MaCough was out-of-his league.... so, they are a take the body, crash the net, & hope it hit's someone back there team..... "sounds like playoff hockey!!"

Snuf........Legault was a 4th rounder. Who cares, he called it like it is. Magers is joke. Look at his numbers. He has what.......a 87% save percentage! That's EMBARRASSING!

Hilarious!!! Best post I think I've seen. What is it about goalies and trash talk that just seems to be so funny in this league? Sterling, Boucher, Magers...? These guys have 2nd jobs as comedians when their time is up as hockey players. Forget firefighting.

BLB, ++ Goalies are, well, goalies. They're all a little (some a lot) different, sort of like kickers in football only more so. Plus they know generally that no one is going to do much about it because goalies are so heavily protected by pads, rules, and team mates.

Where an athlete gets picked in the draft, in any sport, rarely has anything to do with how well they perform at the pro level.

Andy. Not arguing with the statement Boucher made. More a comment about how fast his star fell.
Funny thing is if you check his stats, Magers had over 40 penalty minutes a couple of years ago and had 20+ on a regular basis. Those could not all be delay of game infractions..

Ya.....as you know Snuf, it seems a lot of guys get drafted on size alone. Looks like an argument can be made for that in this instance, LOL

What was the obscene gesture that Nick made?

HockeyBuddha
Sun, 02/06/2011 - 9:43pm

Honey b from what I could see on the replay video, it looked like he was making a masturbating motion then pointing towards the Thunder bench. IMO, Magers was within his rights to come after him. Pretty cowardly thing for Boucher to do, starting something like that then hiding behind his teammates when Magers was ready to go. His actions after the save on Robinson's penalty shot and this quote say to me that he is very unprofessional and maybe he should also count his blessings to have a job at this level.

Incorrect. Bouch did not make a motion like that...Did he point to his crotch? Yes but he didn't "make a masturbation motion" towards the Thunder bench. Nice try on trying to make it look like Bouch started it all but it might help if you were actually at the game and knew the whole story. To say Bouch is lucky to have a job at this level shows your lack of knowledge. Go back to under your rock.

I thought it looked like he made that motion too, but it is the only game I have missed ALL year (of course), and I didn't want to jump to conclusions from the video that was from far away. On the only blog (JG), he says that Bouch might warrant discipline for the gesture.

Magers was mouthing off and shooting pucks at Boucher in warmups. Where do all these half-witted people come from? Lets go back go losing to Dayton so all the "Morality Police" can go back to whatever they do the 64 games that Nick Boucher doesn't make a "motion" of some sort.

I read that Magers was shooting pucks at Nick in the warm-ups. I am not trying to police anything, just simply trying to find out what the gesture was...

Baloney, GM and JM, that's an absolutely legitimate question. From where I was standing when it happened, I thought maybe he did, but watching the tape helps now to get another perspective. If he did, there's no place in the game for that. That does not excuse anything that Magers did, either. The one thing I've learned from all the hockey suspensions I've covered that that whatever the other person does, it has nothing to do with excusing what you did. It's all black and white under the rules.

RobC
Sun, 02/06/2011 - 10:51pm

You could even say what Bouch did was smart, as it caused Magers to lose it and as a result the ensuing faceoff went to the other end, taking away any chance Wichita might've had left. I thought it was a little much, but if he was looking to get Magers to do something stupid, it worked.

when you can't yell "fight" when there is something wrong, I have "a pee-wee Herman cop telling me to quit??

Maybe all the Gentlemen of Ice Hockey should sit down and discuss these events whilst drinking a spot of the Good Queens Tea...

Are people really so easily offended? Do you really want to see a team full of good sports that get a good line brawl beating once a year?

Kudos to Boucher! If an alleged "hand motion" makes Magers go banana sandwich, I'd do it every game. Stop blaming Nick for a madman's rampage. ;-)

Boucher declined after the first period. After the second he rushed into the lockerroom discusted, then after the penalty shot thought he was better than anyone, made the gesture and forced his teammates to stick up for his childish behavior. Sims should not have put Reiter in, if a player starts something he should back it up.

I like them when they happen; but would rather not see the goalie of the team I root for fighting...

You dont leave your playoff stud goalie in the game when Wichita is going Coo Coo for Cocoa Puffs...

So, if you're nuts and fire pucks during the game at the opponents to try to injure them, not as part of the game, mind you, it's ok, but you're not allowed to make a hand gesture? No wonder people wonder why it takes so long to understand this game....and if the CHL is worried that someone is gonna see or hear something that may offend them, then, please have all the players drop the f-bombs in a whisper...lol... Of course, I may have to police myself in the stands then as well....God forbid. Please, no one turn me in....

I said that's what it looked like to me. Either way, I'm looking forward to future Komets/Thunder matchups in the future, and I hope to see you guys in the playoffs. Guess I'll go back under my rock for now.
