Attendance : NA.... hope that means they just didn't count it lol.

Tough when you play a roster of guys that haven't played together much. No reason to panic. If this is the result in game 10 of the regular season that is another story.
Beech has had success in this league. 78 wins with under 40 losses and 10 career shutouts. And he is on the right side of 30 so I hope management doesn't pull the panic cord too quickly on him.

I really dont agree with you on Beech, Snuff...

His numbers have been trending down the last couple seasons... I would jump on another goalie if possible; but the big question is how much time will they get? Beech might have been the only guy willing to come here and get limited starts if they are going to dramatically increase Boucher's load...

Especially considering there's only two games the next two weeks, and you know Nick will start those. Who knows who might be available by then?

Beech went from starting for the Seawolves to being a backup and yes his numbers trended down. So it is possible he is not good playing once every 5 games spread out over 2 weeks. Kind of like how some pitchers are great setup men but ask them to close a game and they can't do it.
Beech certainly shouldn't be trending down due to age because he should still be in his prime. Maybe the teams in front of him weren't that good or maybe he couldn't handle the erratic workload.
I am still not ready to write him off though. I am sure the Komets will indeed be exploring all of their options though as they should be.

We're looking for a backup goalie for this season, so it needs to be a guy that can play at the top of his game only getting 10-15 games as the #2...

I'm not sure Beech is that guy??? I agree with the light schedule the first couple weeks that its not something they have to address now...

Beech had double hip surgery a summer or two back. So really, being on the "right side of 30" doesn't apply here I would think LOL

We'll see. One thing for sure is he better play well Sunday. The cartilage surgery he had wasn't anything career threatening but it does take time to recover from. The guy was the goaltender of the year in this league not too long ago. That kind of pedigree is not something you cast aside quickly but it will come down to whether or not he is ready and able to play in the role they need him to play in and also, can he step up and play more if Boucher gets hurt or slumps. If he can, I think they would be in good shape having someone with the experience Beech has just in case something happens. We'll know alot more I think Sunday. The butteflies should be gone for him and maybe he'll have more of a "real" team playing in front of him.

I thought Mele got the goal.

They announced it at Hara that Krug got it and Mele the assist.

How was the fights ?

Hit Somebody!!!
Sat, 10/15/2011 - 3:06am

Bryant Molle opening faceoff 5 seconds in...took a surprise punch in the face that drew blood....it only mad him mad because he then beat the stuffing out of the guy.

Warner...not a fight. He is lucky he didn't get 3rd man in and delay of game. PC was pushing and shoving with a Gem and wouldn't drop the gloves, so I reckon that BWs thought he should stand-up for PC??? and dropped his gloves, wrapped the guy up and pulled him to the ground.

Thorne started his fight in charge, but towards the end his opponent got some pretty good shots in...draw.

Starenky fought a guy a foot smaller than him that was energized and brave and threw some bombs on Starenky, but Starenky threw them right back and did ok...draw.

I think they can hold their own. Hope Schrock and Thorne are on the same line....could be alot of fun for us and alot of havoc for the CHL.

So tired of snuff and the age debate..who really gives a crap how old the players are as long as the komets are competitive and win. There is plenty of young pee wee hockey going on over at canlan and its free!

Snuf was a pro hockey scout in his former life. Remember what he says here in gospel. All this youth the Komets brought in and they got KILLED by an older veteran Gems team. Weird! If the older players work harder, I'll take them any day over a green young kid.

JR1
Sat, 10/15/2011 - 4:24pm

Unless you find a nice combination of youthfull and veteran players....

We had an 'established' team last season and we saw how well that did for us... The young guys will provide much needed energy every shift while learning the tricks to lasting a full pro season from the vets...

This isnt the slower paced IHL2 where we could put good talented guys out there who could wait for things to develop and capitalize, this is a league where we have seen heart can trump skill most nights with young hungry players who set the tone.

I love that our established guys have to now come to camp ready to play and work hard to keep a spot. I love the fact that if you wait until X-mas to start playing that most likely you will be on the outside looking in at the playoffs...

Cant wait for opening night....

Hold the phone.........DID I JUST DEFEND SNUFF??????????

LOL..... :)

"Snuf was a pro hockey scout in his former life. Remember what he says here in gospel. "

YES! Andy you continue to have me figured out. I am so impressed.

JR1 we agree on some, disagree with on others :) I enjoy our debates because you know how to do it respectfully.
I never mind intelligent debate that doesn't start of with a trollish personal comment hurled in my direction. Sadly there are some here that think they need to act that way to get their point across.

I was just poking some fun....

This could be a slap happy posting night...lol... After getting off work at 6am, I coached 3 PAL football games, got home about 12:45, slept a couple hours and back to work...

I could be having conversations with myself on here around 3am...lol

JungleMonkey
Sat, 10/15/2011 - 5:10pm

The question is.... how many of the 3 games were victories?

What's the age range? Perhaps you have too many vets on your team. It's time to cut the 9 year olds if they cant produce. Give me a 6 yr old running back with fresh legs any day...

JR1
Sat, 10/15/2011 - 5:24pm

All 3 baby!!!

Lol.....

There are quite a few parents that need to be paying PAL coaches to babysit their kids 3 nights a week and on Saturday mornings...ha ha I dont know if I could handle any 6 year old football prodigies (or their parents...)...

And if the young kids win you a championship ( I.e. Justin hodgeman only 23) make sure you don't bring them back..they will just be comfortable and be labeled as retreads..come on snuff..get a clue

Hillarious to me that someone on here thinks the result of last night means a single thing about the Komets in the grand scheme of things. Dayton has returnees playing against the bottom 2/3s of our Kamp Roster. Our guys were not playing systems. They were just trying to prove they bleong on the ice at this level. Dayton, however, Brandon Duhart Naurato was playing this game like it was the 7th game of the Kup finals and he was trash talking with our King Of Social Media for kraps sakes.

So Mr. Uptight blogger that doesn't get it....relax buddy. LOL

Things will be ok in Komet Land. The result of the game meant nothing. ZERO. zilch...Nada.

Save your tantrums for the next week when the cuts come and your favorite training camp hero is cut from the roster and you are ready to jump from the Summit Building without a parachute.

There will be 3 or 4 really tough decisions made with forwards that part of the crowd will understand and the other part of the crowd will whine and cry about.

Please read my last statement about 25 times and keep that on top of your mind this coming week before you over-react. OK MAN???
