Tailing the Komets

Brad MacMillan is retiring today

It's not because of his concussion but because he has a chance for a great job in Alaska with an oil refinery in Fairbanks.

``I made it official today,'' MacMillan said. ``I don't think I'm going to get this opportunity again. It's a chance for me to even maybe go back to school at some point.''

MacMillan recently played one game with Idaho in the ECHL, receiving nine penalty minutes. He's been trying to get this job for a while now. Fairbacks is where he went to college and where he met his wife Delaney.

`` owe them somehting now. They've out up with my crap the last four years moving around and all this unknown. This is a good chance to get set up for th rest of my life and have an exti plan for after hockey I feel comfortable. I was a little upset iwth the CHL. It wasn't my decision to not play there. I came back and played one game here. Now I'm finishing on my terms and I feel a lot better about that than before.
Going through the interview process. Oil refinery.

You will be missed. You were a fan favorite here and for me, will always be. Good Luck with your future plans. Its sad that you had to leave this way...but it shows alot about your character and that makes me proud to say you were once a Komet!

The Hockey Fans in Fort Wayne will miss you Brad. You were huge 2 years ago in the Playoffs when PC was out hurt. You ended K-Zoo's season with great play.

Always willing to stick-up for teammates. Always played with 100% effort, and would do whatever was asked of you to make the Komets a better team.

Always will be a Komet in my book.

Best of luck and best wishes for you and your family.

Best of luck to Brad and his family, he was warrior for the Komets! I know people have differing opionions on what happened on that Halloween night brawl, but when he stuck up for Shafranov I thought that was one of the coolest things and what made him a great teammate!

It would be cool to see him comeback on opening night so we could show him some appreciation for all the great memories he gave us!
