Last time I bought a "replica jersey" (no tie straps) it cost over $200 from Komet Kuarters to get name and numbers put on. Do you wanna see the reciept? This past summer I bought a Reebok( not athletic knit) ECHL Officially Liscensed, with ALL patches and tie straps, numbers and names, the whole works, $200. The komets jerseys do not come with all patches, only the logo. Them cost extra. Try buying one for $200, unless prices have gone down in the past 2 years. Doubt it. I'm sorry that I'm "wrong" about all my info. I'm just dealing with it from the FWYH side, and only stating the facts I know. The Komets were pressured into tghose jerseys the last 2 years cause FWYH conidered dropping the name. They probably would be better off.

Mark I have some experience dealing with Jersey companies. I know the markup is not all that great especially when you order in limited quantities. If you are the Yankees and sell a few thousand jerseys a year it's one thing. I would guess the Komets would sell what, maybe a few hundred jerseys each year? Maybe closer to 1000 with the third jersey that comes out? Those numbers may be way high. In any case I know when ordering them in lower quantities, the markup may very well be less than 30%.

Hockey61- Yes, it does cost close to $200 dollars, what do you want them to be $100. I can tell you that the work we do on the jersey to customize it, it is very competively priced. Go look at the Toledo Walleye website. You can buy a jersey, then have it customized for $72.95, 5 dollars more, but you have to wait 6-8 weeks on it. You can get a Jersey from us pay 5 dollars less and have it in 7-8 days.

On a replica jersey, why would you need the tie down????? You planning on getting into a bar fight with it on?

What is that awful smell???

Sour Grapes?

My points earlier in this post, the post that has gotten hijacked by a fine wine as it seems......still remain.

The IHL overall is a struggle. I guess for most it is ok that ownership money comes from a source outside of that particular team to help them get by. I guess my concern is, for how long does this continue? Can we continue to "support" teams that are struggling so that the Komets have a league to play in, or at some point is it smarter financially and also is it a more authentic experience if the Komets were to move into a league where actual teams were supported by their own fanbase, own sponsorships, own ownerships, and own revenues? That is my point I guess.

People can make the argument that this is just entertainment...I get that. I do see entertainment in the Komets obviously or I wouldn't go and spend the money and time that I do for this team and league...but I start questioning if we are toe-ing the line of a "real" hockey league experience of competitive teams and cities and just a league built to serve the purpose of one team that is able to rake in the money all by itself because it just has teams put together to play against. Harlem Globetrotters anyone?

That is my thinking....I apologize if it is not in lin with the rest of you.

Now back to the blog sponsored by Welchers Sour Grape Juice.
