Tailing the Komets

Brendan's pick

You can read it here.

You'll have to wait for Saturday to hear mine -- or you can watch Inside The Zone.

I will say this, I'm looking forward to this series more than I have any of the playoffs the last three years.

Some of what he said I will give him credit on, however, i don't agree with his goaltending pick, or his reasoning for it. Call me a homer because I'm calling him one, but I just don't think Flint can win this, they will give a VERY good fight, it will take at least six games for someone to win. I just think It'll be the Komets, but wouldn't be surprised if Flint managed an upset again.

Holy homer Brendan Savage.....Did he really just say that a goalie that has won the cup back to back is no match for a rookie on a hot streak??? And that Al Sims and Muzatti are even in the same conversation coaching wise???? Muzatti coached a team to less than a .500 record.

This guy has to be drunk

I think Flint is very capable of winning this.

No way do I call anyone from Flint a homer for picking the Gens in this one... If anyone cares to look past the final game of the regular season they would see that Flint OWNED the K's the second half of the season. Nolan is a young outstanding goalie with a ton of upside, IMO he is certainly capable of stealing a series...

Like Blake has said, this is gonna be a fun series to watch. I'm a K's fan thru and thru; but I wont bet against the Gens...

I'm not saying Flint can't win any given 4 out of 7 games. Any team can win any given night and get on a winning streak. Shoot I watched a Calgary team that had no logical reason at all to make the finals get hot and beat the top 3 seeds in the Western Conference a few years ago. But the justifications that Brendan used are asinine. If anybody honestly thinks Muzatti is as good as a coach as Al then I don't know where you have been the last 20 years. And yes, Rob Nolan is probably playing the best hockey of his life right now. But Nick Boucher just put up a shutout in game 7 on 33 shots and 4 even strength goals against in his last 4 games. Not exactly shabby.

Let's put it this way, if the Komets come out and play the first four games of this series like they did the last one, they will not be coming back from 3-1 again. I don't think they will, but what's been this team's biggest problem all year? Consistency.

If the Komets play their game, they win this series in 5. That is my prediction, and I am sticking to it.

Smack the crap out of them Komets!!! And then take back your equipment.....LOL And your pucks too.

Flint kept Bouchard from scoring by hitting him every second he was on the ice, at flint the other night you could see bouchard cringing before he got hit, they just took him out of the series, if they weren't hitting him they were following him all the way to the bench chirping at him. Hist cheap shot on Mori at the end of game 6---you couls just see him taking his frustration out.

Flint was also able to get Mario suspended then lawmaster.

They did what they had to do to get the advantage.

We can't let that get to us, they are going to pound on chaulk or hodgy, run our goaltender, they are going to do whatever it takes to try and take us out of our game.

This one is going the full 7 games, we'll lose our composure then get it bqck in the Nick of time!

Defense wins championships, they have NolanN but its going to take more than that!

Any team that wins 2 championships faces the difficulty of a long season before the playoffs. I think this carried over in the first round, but I believe we can respond well in the finals. It's defense first in the playoffs, and it gives us a chance every game. Composure is very important. We need to be physical, without the penalties.

I agree with Blake about the series...the two hottest teams over the last 6 weeks, two solid goalies that can win games by themselves, offenses with the firepower to go on a tear, and a chance to fill both buildings due to it being a reasonable drive for both fan bases.

With the 2-2-1-1-1 format, we need to be at our best and take the first two at home.

Get ready to pack the jungle for another thrilling game 7...K's in a 7-game series.

I'm thinking Brendan's article is supposed to sound like a "homer" article. He's Flint's reporter, what do you expect? I like how he puts what he thinks into his articles, making them more interesting to read. He believes in his team. What's wrong with that? If I want to just read stats all day and no opinions, I'll just look at boxscores on pointstreak. Straight facts get really boring without anything to add to them a bit, and I like how he tends to get away from just re-writing box scores with a few more words. Don't get me wrong, I'll be hating Flint every second they are on the ice against our Komets, but this article was still a fun read and I can't talk bad about someone for sticking by his team, no matter who they are playing. I know I wouldn't ever say any of my favorite teams were going to lose going into a series, no matter who they were playing, and I'm really not too surprised Brendan didn't either.

Where did I say Fort Wayne's goalie was "no match" for Nolan? Geez, talk about putting words in my mouth! If you read the thing, one of the reasons I picked them was because before the Muskegon series I said I would if they made the finals. Yeah, I'm a homer. I picked them to lose in the semis! I take it back: KOMETS IN THREE GAMES!

I for one picked Flint to remove Musky in seven the night Flint made the playoffs here in FW. Am glad they did and then I picked the Komets to win it in 7....I am sticking to that pick. I agree with Blake it should be a great finals! Flints goalie is a good one too! Bring it ON!!!!

As far as Muzzati vs. Sims...Would I be out of my mind to say that Muzzati may be a better coach than Sims? He took a bunch of nobodies (outside of Smoke and Pascal) and took them to the championship while Al has the likes of PC, Chaulk, Guy, Bouch, etc...Could Al have taken the Gens to the finals? I honestly doubt it. Give Muzzati a few more years behind the bench and my prediction may just come true...

History, GM, history. Study the history of the Komets and Al Sims, it should answer that question for you.
