Tailing the Komets

Canada-USA

Let's put the new posts here.

There is nobody better at anything than Mike Emrick. He makes me feel like a kindergartner when it comes to hockey lore.

Being a big Devils fan and an even bigger Marty Brodeur fan it's definitally a weird feeling rooting against him but I love to see him down! All the Devils are looking good tonight..Rafi is having the game of his life

They should have gave Canada a "Jack Johnson" to the mouth at the end of that scrum.....gheesh.

To anybody thinking there's nobody hitting in hockey anymore, I offer you today's Russia vs. Czech and USA vs. Canada games as exhibits A and B, proving you WRONG.

These boys are going at it. How 'bout the Ovechkin hit on Jagr today? That looked like Scott Stevens taking out Eric Lindros.

Best single day of hockey I can remember in a long, long time. Can't wait for the midnight game.

Hopefully the US can hold for the third period and not pull a Komets (play on their heels trying not to lose and end up losing by a goal)

Sorry, didn't mean that to be overly harsh. Just happened quite a bit to the 2008-2009 team at home.

MSNBC has hard-core hockey.

NBC has Bob Costas and Mary Carillo interviewing Rocky and Bullwinkle..............LOL

Anyone see the Mary Carillo feature where she was at the Royal Mounty Academy??? Wow.

This is a ridiculous decision by NBC. This game has lived up to the billing and should have been the main event of the night even if it is still round robin play.

Is the ice surface small on this rink? The corners look real tight.

Is America, Jr. (I mean Canada) officially the 51st state yet? That team is insanely LOADED and is at home. Wow, great job to the boys rocking red, white, and blue! In addition, how awesome is Miller's helmet? Uncle Sam looks pretty bad ass and I love the "Don't tread on me," quote down the other side of it. I don't understand French, but that announcer on the PA sure sounded like he'd had the wind sucked out of his sails.

Now that is what I call tough hard nose hockey and it was all day long. Keslar goal was all effort even for an open netter. Now if we only could get that on a every weekend we all would satisfied. I am sure the negative nellies will be in full force in Canada..

Anyone know who to root for in the next game so the US gets the #1 seeding? Obviously rooting for an overtime game, but if not that, what is our best route to the #1 seed.

Canada is the 6, needs to get past Germany (easy) and then likely Russia.

Miller also had "Miller Time" on the back, but was made to take it off.

I like how now that the US won NBC is making a big deal about it on the main network. #NBCfail

They most likely were thinking that they would test the hockey waters and ratings on MSNBC and see how the interest level and also if the US won or not before they commit NBC to the hockey game.....although, they showed the Russia and Czech game this afternoon on NBC. But Primetime is a whole different animal I guess. It is hard to do 25 minutes of fluff every 5 minutes during a hockey game I guess too. I am glad they moved it to MSNBC so that we didn't miss any of the game and so Bob Costas could talk himself to sleep on NBC.

Here's what I've come up with--We want the Sweden/Finland game to go to overtime and the US has is 1D. Next option is for Sweden to win. If Finland wins, they will have a better goal differential than the US and be the #1 seed.

This is also set--

3D--Russia

6D--Canada--will play Germany, then have to beat Russia
7D--Slovakia
8D--Switzerland
9D--Belarus
10D--Norway
11D--Germany
12D--Lativa

The US will be 1D or 2D....It would be great to be 1D as we'd avoid either Russia or a rematch with Canada in the medal round.

Go Sweden!

The reasoning I heard as to why the game was on Msnbc was because they wanted to show it live all across the country at the same time. Also Since Comcast is buying NBC they wanted it on MSNBC HD to screw over directv who does not have the channel in HD. Alot of corporate stuff.

Great game huh, folks. Congrats USA. No neg nellies yet. I think I mentioned in the blog last week about foot speed of some of our defense. The penalty trouble starting the 3rd was a momentum changer. Nice to see Kessler score a great hard working goal in his home rink. The US was full value and the Canadians were always afraid of Miller doing what he did tonight. Just watch out for the let down. It is amazing how these super efforts can be followed by a stinker. Canada has tough row to hoe now. Hopefully we can keep the effort up and at least get past Russia.
