Looks like the team is glad to have him (rubbing his head, etc.)... and looks likes he's glad to actually be playing again.

Man, what did I do to deserve such criticism from JR?? Granted, the video isn't as good as I would've liked, but I did beat the TV stations getting it out there on my night off. Oh well, guess I'll just have to turn tail and slink away to go shoot the girls state swimming championships this weekend.

JR was joking. Relax.

Yeah, Hit, I got that. I was too, but I am going to go to Indy for the girls state swimming finals ... whether I want to or not. In fact, I have the next three weekends in Indy for state championships, so no K's games for me for awhile.

What I dont get is if he's mad at me for the comment, then why is he going to shoot girls at the swim championships??? Seems kinda harsh to me....

That's what they get for me having to miss shooting some Mallards on Friday night to be there for preliminaries.

Mallards beat Colorado 4-1.

Quad City ought to be a good measuring stick.

The way the K's are playing right now, I'd be surprised if there is anyone out there they can't beat -- even Allen. Not saying that will continue to be the case indefinitely, but for now, they have the momentum.

It was great to see him skate away smiling, acknowledge the crowd, then ask which penalty box was his. Seems like a fun player and I'm excited to watch him the rest of the season. I know it didn't translate into tickets last night, but I think as word gets out about him, you'll see more people coming in through the doors. I'm not saying he'll cause a sellout each night, especially on a Wednesday night when the windchills are subzero, that'd be naive to expect that, but I think you'll see a bit of an influx on weekend games. His play looked a little rusty, but I didn't think it was terrible for a first night with a new team. It was also good to see that a defensemen hasn't lost his touch of allowing people to skate past him without being touched at all too.

What caused Mirasty to fight that guy? I didn't see any cheap shots beforehand. I just saw the puck drop and they went at it. What did the other guy do?

Hit Somebody!!!
Thu, 02/10/2011 - 9:42pm

Ummmm, he skated onto the ice and he was willing to dance.

Mirasty was looking to get the crowd into the game and his team needed some energy.

They fought.

Pretty much it.

would other sports benefit from such tactics? why is it just hockey that permits gratuitous fighting? i'm serious, i just recently became an ice hockey fan and am not used to fighting in sports.

It is what makes the game so intense. There is always a chance that something might boil over on the ice and it also keeps players looking to take cheapshots or use the stick as a weapon in check.

Fighting has its place in this game, it makes this sport unique, exciting, and interesting all at the sametime it allows the players a chance to police the ice and forces the other team to make a decision on how they choose to play the game.

And at times, if 2 guys are on the ice looking to get their team or crowd fired up.....it can change the game momentum.

Last night, Mirasty changed the momentum as his teammates woke-up, got excited, and scored 7 unanswered goals to bury the PT. Also, everytime Mirasty went onto the ice, the PT players had that thought in the back of their mind that they better skate straight or Nasty might be watching and might snap.

I am sure this topic will bring out alot of "fors" and "againsts".......

Super Fan is not a fight fan. Nor is Snuff. Although he will probably come on and try to change his story......kidding snuff.

Hit hit hit..... I am flicking my doritos at you! ;)

What coyote is saying is what I said on the other thread. Someone runs the goalie, pound him.
Someone runs at you after the whistle, pound him.
Someone comes into the boards stick or elbows first, pound him.
I have no problem with a fight arising from any of the above or other like situations.

Watching two guys stop the game for a nonsense fight I have no use for.

i just figured if i wanted to see fighting then i'd go see a fight. i'd never expect to see a fight break out at a soccer game or a football game (pushing and shoving aside). i watched the olympics and didn't see one fight and it was the most entertaining hockey i've seen yet. looking at mirasty's stats, i think he picked the wrong sport. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=55477

Coyote...you admit that you just recently following hockey and that is obvious if you think Mirasty picked the wrong sport. Nasty has gotten more fame and fortune then he would have ever gotten in boxing, mixed martial arts, cage fighting, etc...Fighting has always had a spot for an enforcer and that isn't going away any time soon. Welcome to hockey, rook

Mirasty has more of a following all over the USA and Canada then you could ever dream of. Let's see, Mirasty's CURRENT contract is $90,000 for this year alone...Would you like to keep playing this game or will you just disappear back to under your bridge now?

Fame and fourtune? Questioning that? Mirasty has been loved and followed his whole career. More so than top tier scorers. Obviously you are just beginning to watch the sport. Part of the sport is fighting... North American hockey involves the rough stuff into its sport. If you don't like it, there are venues for figure skating all over the place. But this sport involves fighting. Maybe you should have researched hockey more before you decided to become a fan??

Mirasty may not be rich from his fighting in hockey, but fame he does have.. Also, plenty before him have become rather wealthy from doing the very same thing...

A fight changes the face of a game. You watch your teamate go out and have a good fight it gets adrenaline flowing. Everyone pats the combatant on the butt and tells him "right on" ... then they take from that energy and turn it into momentum for their team. Happened in Mirasty's first game here. Second shift.. He does his job well.
