Nothing against Phillips but I think he should sit out. Why change anything with the way they played. Just My Opinion.

A bar or someone should show the road games.

Well, it aint' gonna happen unless one of you goes and asks the owners of the establishments to do it. I'd guess 99 percent of them wouldn't have a clue that it's even an option.

In 1993 the Komets went to San Diego to play the first two games of the series. The Gulls had won the regular season in first with the most points of ANY pro hockey team that season. Komets were heavy underdogs but won the two games there. Then they come home and end up sweeping the Gulls n four straight to win the clas AAA Turner Cup! This over a team that most hockey pundits said was the best minor league team ever put together. Now it is Rapid City. And good hockey team and CHL defending Cup champs. The Komets can win this short series!! They want to get a win out there then win the two at home. I say get two there and then win one of the two here. Go with Nick in goal all the way unless he has a bad one. Kevin understands this too. I think we are going to witness a very special thing here! If for no other reason than to keep Hit somebody from having a coronary. This team can do this folks and we need to show the support for them on another week night Wednesday game. Can u say sellout?? As the sign said "YOU GOTTA BELIEVE."

BTW after a rough start Reiter had a good 3rd period and helped UMD hold on to beat Notre Dame in the Frozen Four semifinals, 4-3

San Diego's attitude was so superior they didn't bother even scouting the Komets, they just thought they would steam roll them.

It would be nice if Rapid City had the same mind set but I doubt they do in spite of their success against us earlier in the season. This should be a great series and a test for both teams. At this time I wish it were a best of seven (that's real hockey, isn't it) but of course if the Komets win it in five I'll probably be thankful it's only five.

I think the Komets have made the same mistake in recent years, Steve. I don't know that they've gone so far as to not scout, but underestimating people has definitely occurred with the Ks, and has almost bitten them a time or two also.

I have talked to a few bar owners and not one seems interested in showing the games. Dumb!!!!! They could pack the place. I would even pay a cover.

I'd pay $5 to get in. And drink another $20 worth. ;)

I might even eat something.

Try the Acme or someone that sponsors the Komets. If you don't care about service or good food, you could probably even try your luck with Buffalo Wild Wings.

One issue may be llicensing(may not be the term I'm looking for) to show the game. Bars pay much more to show Pay-per-views and such. There could end up being some legal issues if they do try and show the games. Then again maybe they wouldn't get caught since they would have to stream it from the computer.

The layoff between now and game 1 doesn't bother me as much as the short turnaround between games 4 & 5.

Whichever way this series plays out, the layoff will be used as an excuse, or the reason, why the successful team won.

The Komets 6-3 win over Bloomington featured six goals by six different players. None of those six were named Chaulk, Lardner, or Patrosso. This team is going to live or die by all the lines contributing and it is a good sign when the other two lines are scoring goals. When the other two lines are scoring and the first line plays defense and shuts down the big line from the other team, only good things will follow.

I thought I saw in the CHL site twitter feed that Mississippi was going to have a viewing party at a Buffalo Wild Wings for their Game 5 with Tulsa on Saturday. Be nice if we could do that here but honestly I don't know if many other than the diehards would attend. Yes the bars pay more for things like PPV... but it could be traced thru the IP if CHLTV were to decide to pursue that. I like going to Buckets on Jefferson for football a lot. They have WiFi and a big screen in the front room that I believe can be tied to a computer/game console source.

Sorry I just blurted out the Reiter answer and didn't make Harley look for it... slow thinking on my part.

There isn't some place you could use or rent and bring a wireless laptop and a projector??? Do a "bring your own" so no liquor license needed. Tape a white sheet to the wall and order pizzas. Make sure it has a bathroom. What about that place on Cloesium that they use for the Halloween store? Just a suggestion.

Why not the Coliseum itself? How about one of the expo center rooms? Franke's could feed us chips and pretzels like always!

Thank you, Mike in Toronto.

I've been thinking about this team and this season for a while. I can honestly say that I've never seen a team so schizophrenic as this season's Komets. In turn I don't think I've ever been so schizophrenic about the year also.

The year started out with great expectations and then those expectations were immediately doused with doubt. They went 5-15-1 and, man, everyone was searching for answers. Then Lardner, Chaulk, LaPointe, Podshenyalov were added and the team gradually took off. Just when it seemed fun to go to the Coliseum again, they took two steps backwards.

They got through the final 8 games in 11 days stretch and did with style. They played hard. They played with character and heart and ended the season taking 3 out of a possible 4 points against Colorado, who were playing for the Conference championship. ( By the way, did anybody receive a "thank you" from Rapid City for shutting down Colorado and, thus, guaranteeing the Championship for them)? Didn't think so.

The team played terrific against Bloomington. Won in three straight and the first two on the road. Maybe their best hockey of the year.

Now will they do it again? What happens if they fall behind in the first game or the series? Will they shrug it off and get even more motivated?

These are my questions and I can't help it if I'm a little schizophrenic. The seson has prepared me for this.

I've seen enough to know that I've seen too much.

That would be cool all of us diehard fans all in one place cheering on our Komets since we can not make the trip!!! GO KOMETS!!!

Alan, good points. I still feel good about the team. The problem is the 5 game series. Get down and you don't have a lot of time to come back. They have come back before. That is well documented. But those were 7 gamers. The short series in my opinion comes down to what you pointed out in your first post. Balance. Obviously goaltending will be key, but we have been blessed in that area IMO.
It is the team's willingness to take on different roles at different times. PC is an example. No whining. Accept what is happening, try to work your way back to the top.
And the whole team feeds off that unselfish attitude. It seems this has been the playoff mantra that has made them successful in past. Both teams will be rested, save the travel, it will be a heck of a series.

The K's first line is truly special.... Not too many first lines south of the NHL can absolutely shut down another teams top line when they are not scoring.... They can still contribute in a big way with thier defense...

A very good point that Alan made and I'm glad he pointed it out....
