I found this posted on another board. According to the poster the Komets invited 3 players from the tryout camp in Canada.

Fredric Korduner, Erik Yngwe and Stanislav Dzakhov.

The Russian looks like a Machine. Big kid.....18.....140 points in like 60 games in the GMHL. Same league that APOD played in.

This is going to be tough guys. They will only keep 19 or 20 players tops...right?

If the camp is to be open for the best players and no one's spot is guaranteed like the Frankes have said...

HOLY KRAP!!!

Some guys might be in trouble.

These younger hungry guys that have things to prove will be out for blood.

Can't wait for camp to open.

Drop the puck.

I would guess that if they don't invite anyone else to training camp other than another goalie or 2 its going to be a great camp. These 3 "kids" look great, especially the Russian kid. Everyone better show up ready and hungry. No 71% efforts and expect to make team. I would love to see Hit's updated lines.

Just as I'm not sure how to equate statistics from the European leagues to the CHL, I'm not sure how to equate stats from the "juniors" as well. One thing that stands out to me is that the Russian kid played in the same league with Podshendialov and we can get a more intelligent comparison using those two together.

Hit has it correct. There are still going to be ten or eleven more announced. (Apod included). Look for more of the AHL dropdowns, Maybe Bonneau, maybe Hodgman, maybe a couple of others.

I still want to see a couple of proven scorers. Hodgman would be one of them, and if we do, camp may be a heartbreak for a couple of familiar guys.

As strange as this seems, ( when you consider the Komets history), I think the K's have one or two veterans that had better watch out.

By the way, I have no idea whether the Russian guy speaks English. I think he and Apod on the same squad would be a real good thing for both of them if you consider comfort levels to be important.

If they invite these guys it would make twenty-four players, right? Two more goaltenders maybe a defenseman or two, that would leave about six more forwards.

I'm not sure where this is all going to go, and as far as I'm concerned there is more work to do offensively, but this is turning out to be very interesting.

Congrats to the K's for being proactive having this kind of camp. Hope these guys do come to camp and this is not a "rumor".

If I had to project lines right now just going on gut feeling and who I think we have:

Chaulk, Hodgman, Schrock
Smith, APOD, Auger
Lapointe, Dzakhov, Thorne
PC, Erik Yngwe
Fredric Korduner, Mele, Krug
Heffernen, McIlrath, Trottier

Frankie D, Cescon
Milam, Molle
Mango, Molle
Llewellyn, Starensky

Boucher, &&&&

Obviously.....this is just a guess for fun...no panties in knots please.

I'd rather him speak hockey than English, personally....he can always get a translator ;D

BLB, that is probably true. However try to put yourself in that position. Imagine if you had to go to Brazil for a year. Even though you could get stuff translated, it isn't the same. Everyone around you is speaking Portuguese all the time. It can leave you isolated.

Podshendialov had Shafranov to help him. I just think having a fluent Russian, about the same age, would be a real plus.

I don't have any idea if he can speak English or not. Most likely he can speak enough of it to make this a moot point.

This may answer a few questions. Looks like Columbus was looking at the Russian kid.

Some tough stuff going on in small town Canada hockey.

Shelburrne is about 30 miles from my hometown.

Thanks Mike....what one helluva story there. Wow.

I am rooting for APOD and the new Russian Phenom we have. How awesome would it be for both to make it into the NHL and having the Komets being a piece of their puzzle giving them both a shot at this level.

At only 18 yrs old, would the new Russian player be eligible under CHL rules?

I was only teasing, Alan....really, that's all it was, but I guess that does not "translate" on a blog! LOL....

And not that anyone really cares, but I'm multilingual, so I honestly would do okay a few places outside the States :) I know that's all politically un-PC, but it is what it is...
