The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced on Tuesday that Colorado Eagles Assistant Coach Greg Pankewicz has been suspended the balance of the regular season (14 games) and fined an undisclosed amount of money, for his actions on February 19 in a game versus the Mississippi RiverKings. The Eagles organization has also been fined an undisclosed amount of money.
“The Central Hockey League will not tolerate such behavior and found Mr. Pankewicz's conduct to be completely unacceptable to our member clubs, the officiating staff and our fans,” said CHL Commissioner Duane Lewis.

Wow, the league continues to hammer Colorado.....
I expected a good suspension; but nothing like this...
It is not as bad as coaches throwing sticks & things on the ice :(
It made it to ESPN....LOL
So no word on the official that tackled the player head first into the ice?
Had Pankiewicz just come off the bench and tackled the linesman himself he only would've received a 3 game suspension...
Nice GM!
GM nails it. The CHL suspension machine is broken. Who comes up with this garbage? A guy tosses his shirt and gets 14 games. A player tosses an official and gets 3. What a load of crap.
Seems to me that if the mainstream media picks up on something that has happened in the CHL they bring the hammer down, no matter how stupid it is. Had Sportscenter shown the video of Magers giving Cichy a hip toss he would've been banned for life.
GameMisconduct....you are correct and correct. 2 of your best posts, ever. Well said.
Cichy could have been split in two.
GM Your right on the button o those post's Think the CHL wants this kind of exposure.
I agree with the others here....
14 games?
For that?
Really?
LOL
Glad he didn't throw his panties on the ice too.....
He might have gotten a real stiff suspension.....
Seemed ridiculous to me too. I guess they just felt stripping was "disgusting" and that hockey is a serous game, not a "freak show". ;)
Hockey is not a freak show..or a wrestling match. These zebra-boys are too protected. I think someone should pop their bubble.
And I thought Brad Jones was inconsistant.
Hockey suspension guidlines:
1. Anything that severly injures another player, anything that becomes a "black eye" for the league, or anything that ESPN runs with in a negative way gets...The Hammer
2. Anything that can be swept under the rug, if a player isnt injured, something bad a star player does, or doesnt make it to the national media (other than blogs) gets... The Wrist Slap
Since hockey started handing out suspensions like candy, this is how its been and probably how it will remain...
You're correct, Wendy, stripping down to wearing less-than-appropriate clothing at a hockey game is "disgusting" when the wrong people do it.
He got what he deserved. The CHL is not the Federal League.
Couldn't agree more, RK... Some folks just don't have a sense of decency.. Coaches, players, fans, "members of the media" should all dress with decorum at all times.
The linesman slammed the player during that brawl. Thats why Pank' went nuts.
Refs have to be held accountable. Especially if it could lead to the injury of a hockey player.
Crazy, overkill on the suspension total.
Would be interested in knowing if there was an disciplinary measures given to the linesman who slammed the player to the ice. That is what prompted the inappropriate strip tease.
Maybe he'll just go get a job in Alaska.
RunningKomet, the "message" in your comment was so well hidden that I think no one caught on!!
Oh, I got it... Hit Somebody won't agree (he's a big fan)... but I got it.
I was checking the 'ol standings a bit ago and I can't believe how close they are in the middle. Seriously, we're only 6 points out of third?? I'm not sure how likely or realistic it is to think about getting back up that high, but it's amazing that the Komets are even that close after not playing the first half of the season. Keep it up, guys!
I love the Slap Shot reference, Wendy. Now try to get some sleep!
I lol-ed when I read RK's post..Well done, sir!
Does anyone remember what Dave Farrish and or the team got when he did the same thing in the old IHL? Pretty sure there was a suspension involved but I'm thinking one or two games. Or was it left at the toss and bench penalty?
He was only fined.
It was worth a good laugh. That's all that matters. haha
I remember several visiting coaches who used to throw things at fans, try to reach them over the glass to fight, squirt them with water, etc... That was always fun... Not saying that I was ever involved, mind you...... :)
