The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today the 14 gentlemen that will serve as the league's full-time on-ice officials for the 2010-11 season.
The full-time referees for the upcoming season are Boone Bruggman, Dan Dreger, Ryan Hersey, Marc Lavoie, Jon McIsaac and Geoff Miller and the full-time linesmen are Michael Johnstone, Kai Magnussen, John Grandt, Bill McGoldrick, Chris Petrin, Cory Piche, Jon Shaw and Jean Menard.
Bruggman, Lavoie, Miller, Magnussen and Menard are all new to the CHL this season.
“We have a great group of young officials ready for the season,” said Wayne Bonney, CHL's Supervisor of Officials. “I feel we have a collection of officials that are very skilled in their duties and have a great passion for learning and improving. We are very eager for the season to get underway.”
One of the most interesting stories is Magnussen who is making the move from being a professional hockey player to a linesman. Magnussen has played 120 career CHL games (30 goals, 25 assists) seeing action with Tulsa and Rocky Mountain.
The CHL has had numerous officials in recent years advance to the National Hockey League and American Hockey League including both Frederick L'Ecuyer and Gord Dwyer who are both NHL referees.

Does this mean these will be the only officials used? I thought Pete Siegy (sp?) was a great and fair linesmen. He did a great job of making the calls without drawing attention to himself, letting the players fight and knowing when to jump in. He often smiled, and seemed to enjoy himself out there. Talked often with the players, but didn't become too close. Wish him the best if we don't see him anymore...
No, they will just be the primary officials used. I don't know if Pete will be used. Cichy. CHL has hired these guys full-time, which they do for a certain number every year.
They better understand they are not the entertainment! They mess up I'll be on them like Schebig on a BratwOrst. As a matter of fact these refs stink, they better keep their whistle in their pocket when they come to our barn. Who's on tap for tomorrow night? They better not screw up a pre-season game.
Cichy was good at getting tossed out of the way. Lol.. I hope he is a linesman for the FW/Colorado games. Not that he holds a grudge against MacMillan or anything.
Bob Langdon is the only "IHL" official I'd want.
