Should be interesting to see the rivalry between the two top dogs, Fort Wayne and Colorado, in the same division and to see who comes out on top.

Yeah, maybe if this was a merger, Y2K, but it's not.

i didn't say it was a merger...did i?

I mean since were in the same conference with Colorado. If we play them once or twice we still have to battle to win the Conference. And i think Colorado will be one of the main threats in the North.

I am going to take a "Pure" guess. It has to be that because I have zero inside knowledge about this. 70 game schedule, STH tickets will include the 1st round of play-offs. Please take note this is just a guess. Well I can hope for that anyway. The Komets will open the season with either Bloomington or Evansville.

Nice teaser release.... The carrot got about 1 inch closer to the fans... How much besides opening night dates did we really learn there? That more info will be passed along later????? (nightmares of 7-10 days flashed thru my mind...lol)

Most have had the divisions nailed thru speculation, so nothing really new there, just confirmed.

Sounds like thru a slip (or not) that the vet limit will stay at 4 (since the K's have mentioned that they will stand at 3 if Dupuis is signed). So maybe one more bit we know? Maybe not?

When will the meat and potatoes of this endeavour be served? Its been sitting in the kitchen waaaaay tooooo long and will be ice cold by the time we get it....lol

Rand McNally told me the conferences two months ago.

Dennis, if I were a betting man I would bet the Komets open at home against Rapid City. No inside info myself, just seems like something the two leagues would be able to market like crazy for a home opener... The Champions from last season in the CHL and IHL duke it out in Ft Wayne in front of a sold out home opening crowd to kick off the new CIHL endeavour...... That could stoke some fires around here...

Or "stoke" some egos around here.. lol.

Why so quiet? Wouldn't you think that something like this would be in the form of a, for the lack of a better term, major announcement? I don't get that.

JR
Tue, 07/13/2010 - 1:25pm

JM: you know with the Franke Marketing Machine doing thier majic on that contest, that the game would sell out in about 10 minutes.....lol

Considering the last CBA between the CHL and PHPA took 18 months to do, it could be a while longer yet for the nitty gritty details.

JR--I (as they say) was just stirring the pot. You understand that the more hits our leader gets the more money he gets. After last evening I know he needs it. It is fun sometimes to speculate. Rapid City would really be a big opener, I agree.

With some quick calculating Missouri is 600 miles away, Wichita 800, Rapid City 1100 and Colorado 1140. Are the Komets going to buy a plane?

Rob
Tue, 07/13/2010 - 1:42pm

LOL. 18 months huh? October's coming quicker than they would like to think. So we'll know by October 15th all the details? STH deposits will be due by then right? Gotta love unions.

Let's face it, opening night will most likely be a sellout no matter who they play.

JR
Tue, 07/13/2010 - 1:50pm

Dennis, I'm all for some in depth speculating since its almost the middle of July and we've gotten peanuts so far...lol

K's vs Rush probably makes too much sense tho.....lol

JR
Tue, 07/13/2010 - 1:54pm

Snuff, your correct; but an opening night sellout vs the CHL champions from last season (albeit with alot of new faces for both squads) would create a unique buzz and some positive excitement for this upcoming CIHL endeavour... A brand new team right off the bat....

Whether it's Rapid City, Colorado or Dayton wouldn't mean anything to 97.354 percent of the people there, unfortunately. That day is long gone.

JungleMonkey
Tue, 07/13/2010 - 1:59pm

That day is gone when the old rivalries go away.. no kzoo, no muskegon, no flint, no toledo, not even the stinking IceHogs.

I bet 97% don't even know what state Rapid City is in.

JR
Tue, 07/13/2010 - 2:03pm

Hawaii???

JR
Tue, 07/13/2010 - 2:07pm

And those 97.354% will fall all over themselves to get tickets when the Marketing Machine starts pumping out TV and radio adds for a matchup like that....works both ways....

BTW, that 97.354 number throws alot of STH's into that casual fan arena.... They may have a bone to pick with you...LOL

Truth hurts, because a lot of those are businesses that buy STs.

Dschebig
Tue, 07/13/2010 - 2:21pm

I don't really think it will be the Rush. Whoever the K's play opening night will be a sellout. You can bet there will be all kinds of hype whenever they play the Rush. I say bring them on.

Rob
Tue, 07/13/2010 - 2:36pm

Funny thing about businesses buying STs.

They throw attendance numbers off due to the fact that a lot of the tickets aren't used, if they aren't given away in the first place.

Even then, people don't always show up. Not to mention STHs who miss games because they have errands to run, or they just simply don't want to go, it happens.

You can blast these people all you want but in the end they're STHs also.

I've been to these so-called "sell-out" games. There are a lot of empty seats. Does the Brownaseum count the tickets that are actually scanned, or the ones bought? There's a difference.

JR
Tue, 07/13/2010 - 2:37pm

We can all agree that opening night will be a sellout whether we're playing Rapid City or Homestead High School. I'm saying that they could really kick off this endeavour with a bang by playing that angle.

What better way to introduce the K's fans (the ones who are there for hockey) to this new endeavour than bringing in the Champs from the CHL last season???

Also, what better way to introduce the CHL to what Ft Wayne is all about than Opening Night? Plan something really special and knock the Rush's people off thier feet... Could make a really good first impression, IMO...

JR

BTW, a Komet fan on FYC posted this link announcing the sale of the QC Mallards:

http://www.myqcmallards.com/newsandinfo/index.html?article_id=255

If you read the article, it gives you the strong impression that the Mallards are treating this move as permanent... Not one mention of the IHL, saying that the transaction was approved by the CHL....

Blake Sebring
Tue, 07/13/2010 - 2:45pm

I agree, JR, that would be the smart way to go. We'll see if they can do it.

Coliseum counts scanned tickets, and the teams announce the attendance, not the building. I believe the coliseum, through the ticket office, also keeps tracks of tickets distributed.

Even if those tickets may not be used, it's not like the teams can sell them again. They're already sold, and the team has no way of knowing who will or won't show up even if they had a way of selling them again.

I'm not blasting them at all, just pointing out reality. Each of us gets the make the decision if we take it negatively or positively. Doesn't make what I said any less true.

Dschebig is a good guesser. I asked the Komets office yesterday about discounted season ticket prices his year due to the shorter playing schedule. I was told "There will not be a price adjustment. The 40 game package includes exhibition games, regular season games and some playoff games."
