Tailing the Komets

Coaching connundrum

So who do you think should be the Komets' next coach and why, Pat Bingham or John Marks? If you've been following closely, and I know you have, you know quite a bit about them. Which do you like?

My choice is Marks....more experience, solid motivator and teacher. Someone that even the veteran players will respect and learn from. One will not have to worry about him being too "buddy like" with the players....Is "old school"....but what's wrong with that? But I could make a strong case for Bingham also. However, I think that Marks is the better fit for this team, the fans and the community.

Is he willing to be a "yes" man? That should be the question....

I think Marks is the choice. He would be most able to put the product on the ice that we all want to see. I say make him your coach...and let him make the decisions for this team. Don't tie his hands.

Yesterday the Bi-Lo center in Greenville accepted the deal that will let the Grrrowl play another year in Greenville, so they're back. Wonder how high the bidding will go if both of these teams want Marks, and if Marks knows how much the Frankes control the team?

C'mon, you guys are smarter than this. Does Greg Puhalski seem like a guy who does exactly what other people tell him? How about Dave Allison or John Torchetti? If you think they are, I dare you to tell that to their face.

Marks knows exactly what he would be getting into.

All spring the Frankes have talked about how they want a tougher, bigger team, and they've picked that style in the drafts. If that is true how come the Komets didn't have that last year? Remember, this is the group that started The Jungle.

And don't give me any crap about how they are finally listening to the fans. They have always felt that way.

To me it's close, the thing going for Bingham is that he's won a cup with Asheville.

I still go with Marks, soild coach, Venedam said he's a players coach, and we remember the Ice in the early 90's physical to the max.

I'm gonna go with Bingham on this one. I don't know to much how a John Marks team operates, But on the other hand, I have seen a Pat Bingham team. They are tough, yet, they don't lack the skill needed to succeed. Plus, Bingham knows the UHL better than Marks would, I believe.

Actually Greg, Bingham did not win a cup with Asheville, yes, he was in the Finals playing Quad City, but they did NOT win the cup..I believe the year was 2000-01

Mark- Something's not right because Ben Smith has it in his article in the JG that Bingham won as a coach in 01-02. I wonder what gives. Course now I see that Ashevill was a runner up. Someone should call Ben on that one. Good catch Mark.

BTW- Good Luck in your walk tomorrow or this weekend. I'm glad the bad weather went through yesterday.

First off, Greg, what are you doing reading the JG? And you trust their accuracy over mine? Blasphemy!

Now Blake, Don't get your hair all in a dander. As a ritual, the Journal is the first paper in the morning and the News is the second in the afternoon. I tend to like the News anyway because it tends to have more infor I think. I NEVER have a problem with your accuracy:-)

My vote is for Marks.

However it could be tainted by the fact that ALL my information came from the NS.

Brownie points please.

Greg, I noticed that to about Ben Smith and what he wrote..and I was like thats wrong..but he doesn't cover the Komets consistentally..so I gave him the benefit of the doubt..

Blake

Marks won a championship with the Growl i do believe Venedam was with the team then.

If i had to choose i would pick Marks, but i'd be happy with either as the Komets coach.

Ohhhhh, good one, Komets or Comets. You are quickly climbing the list to join Hit Somebody or Jungle Monkey in priority. Just a warning. LOL. Ask them, you don't want to mess with me, and once you are on the list you never come off (though I can be bribed; hint, hint JM and HS).

There's a list? I know that I'm behind Hit. I'll keep trying to advance to the top of the list.

Bring back Christian Bragnalo!!!!

Blakester, i am really worried about your catching cold this hockey season, you may want to consider this:

Remember most of your heat goes right out the top of your head.

Blake

I've often been accused of having stuff go right over my head but also being hot-headed so there's plenty of heat up there.

Chaulk sighting !
Chaulk sighting !!
Chaulk sighting !!!

Chaulk was spotted at a local eatery Friday night.

I can safely say this: Although we don't know where the boy will be playing next year, he has DEFINITELY been hitting the training table during the offseason.
