Coliseum files suit against Kalamazoo

The Memorial Coliseum filed a complaint in Allen Superior Court on Monday against Greater Kalamazoo Sports, Inc. The document claims the Kalamazoo Wings damaged equipment in the visitor's dressing room after a Dec. 21, 2008 game against the Komets. Coliseum official say fire damage to a showerhead, toilet seat, handicapped shower bench, walls and flooring in the room cost $9,450 to fix.

General Manager Randy Brown said coliseum officials have tried numerous times to be compensated by the Wings for the damage. The building eventually deducted the money from the Komets.

“Somebody did tremendous damage to the locker room,” Komets President Michael Franke said. “From our perspective, the coliseum has evidence it was done by the Kalamazoo Wings, and they are refusing to take responsibility for it. The Komets have taken responsibility for it. It happened on our guard at the game that night. It sounds like the coliseum is trying to get to the bottom of who actually did the damage.”

Officials from the Wings were unable to comment Monday evening, saying they had not seen the complaint yet.

The Wings won the game 2-1 on Dec. 21, before 6,497 fans as goaltender Joel Martin made 33 saves.

The brakes on the Wings' bus froze that day and coliseum officials allowed the team to park in the Exposition Hall and then helped transport the team's equipment to the dressing room.

I didn't play pro ball but when I was in little league we got a hold of a bag of red man chew and we all chawed a chunk and no one ever told! I got dizzy and felt like I had to puke. That was back in the good old days when mom let me run all day during the summer with no sun block on, I had a full head of black hair back then and really enjoyed riding my bike, me and my friend gene would go to the swamp and catch tadpoles and sell them, 1 for 2 cents and 2 for 3 cents, we didn't make very much money but we did have fun, I had a german shepherd named Butkis, my brothers got him when they were in college, he was raised on beer and hairy buffalo.

I wasn't on a professional team. My teams were amateur and college. We were ranked 12th in the country. Not too many professional teams for running. I will say this though, lots of things happened on those teams that no one will ever know about except those who were on them.
Since you know how there is no code so well, Hit, what team were YOU on? Couch brigade? Marching band? Glee Club? Show choir?

What is wrong with Glee Club and Show Choir? I enjoyed them very much. Still do enjoy singing. Come to think about it being a couch potatoe isn't all bad either. I practice that every Sunday during the NFL season. I assure you I am very accomplished. At least my wife thinks I am going roots there or so she says..

I was in marching band, long story short, I got kicked out.

Maybe Sean O'Connor signed with Kalamazoo as a secret agent to find out who did the damage to the locker rooms? :)

I'm not saying that there is no code, just that the code should only go so far. You could say the same thing about the military, but if you witness someone committing atrocities, it is your duty to do SOMETHING. Would everyone? Of course not. It takes a lot of courage to stand up to your enemies, but it takes even more to stand up to your friends.

Watch "A Few Good Men" or better yet, sign up for a tour of duty sometime. Then come back and see if you want to rat on people. I'm not saying it's right at all, I'm just saying that's how it is MOST of the time.

Hey Dschbig, you're right. The Wings don't get much in the paper, that's why I like reading Trailing the Komets, it's just plain interesting to see what Komet fans are going to come up with next. Heck, it's Picards fault the I is in the shape it's in anyway, right?

Where is this "Trailing the Komets" that you're reading? Not only do Kzoo people have troubles living up to their obligations and fulfilling contracts, now we know they can't even read! The "Trailing the Komets" site must have lots of pictures so they can follow it. Anyone have the link to that one??

RK- We are back to chilling out just a bit. The Kazoo follower can not spell any better than I can. It is "Tailing the Komets" and it comes out that way when you slow down your fingers and proof read what you type. To add insult to injury it is Dschebig sir.. Welcome aboard! Nothing here is ever taken personal among the Komet Nation. Outsiders who have know idea what they are talking about (WOW) being the exception to that rule. One more thing you need to understand - The IHL is really very strong. Maybe stronger without Kazoo. For sure without Picard. Speak your mind here.

One more thing "Trailing the Komets reader" we write a lot of posts because our leader "BLAKE" gets lots of extra money (pay) with each and every post. It helps him buy worms so he can go fishing on the river banks. Ain't that so Burgee? Make sure your taking your meds big guy!

RK....thanks for being a Smart Arse about it...that was kind. I was seriously asking if you had been on a pro team because you challenged Wendy if she was on one because of the "code" thing and that she obviously had never been on a pro team before because she doesn't understand that code....and you haven't been on one either....hmmm.

This was not about me...but since you asked....I was club, state, and midwest regional tennis champion playing #1 singles 3 years ago in USTA league tennis. I was also captain of my college baseball team and played 3 years of semi-pro baseball in central Indiana. No, I was not a professional by any means, but I think I might qualify for understanding about "sport codes" and serious inner-workings of group dynamics in athletics.

My only point is, if someone wanted to "leak" the information to the Komets or the MC, it is not like something similiar to this has never been done before. If one of the ex-Wings players were treated poorly or left the team unhappy, is not that far-fetched to believe that they would speak of what happened in private to the authorities with no thought of some macho "code"?

I wasn't in anyway trying to start anything with you RK. I was just curious. I don't think it is that big of a deal. If the Wings destroyed the MC property and someone has proof....I say go get them....and I am sure you would agree with that.

We who serve you bow before you oh fearless one! Now choose your weapon. Hit- you are correct but don't take it so serious. Those who have served in the military have a perfect understanding of the "code". Duty--Honor--Country!

Congratulations Roddick, I mean Jeter, I mean Hit. That's kind of you to stand up for Wendy since we all know she has a hard time expressing things for herself (does the sarcasm carry over the blog?). Kudos on being good at tennis though. That's one of two sports I can't master. If I hit the ball it goes one of two places, into the net or over the fence, no in between.
If your teammates have squealed about stuff to people in the past, that's fine too. I'm not saying that didn't or hasn't happened, I've just never been associated with people like that. I totally back what Dschebig said about the military also. I've had a bit of military experience (nowhere near Dschebig and some of the other bloggers on here) and have many friends and family in the services also who speak of "the code" amongst military personnel also.
Blake: Quit trying to start stuff amongst your flock. We can run up the posts count and make you money just fine without the encouragement. Besides, I'll choose a much better than a racket... All the re-stringing and what not necessary afterwards.. too much hassle.

RK lets change our names to Whacko#1 (you) and Whacko#2 (me) Burgee is Whacko#3 Wendy Whacko#3.5. She's not nearly as whacko as anybody else. I must admit I can't hit a tennis ball either. I don't even like to watch a match. Watching paint dry is more interesting. I am sure those who play the game love it. I forgot Hit #4 (sorry Hit)

Sorry. I can't help it if I'm part Sarah Connor. They tried to medicate her too, ya know. ;)

RK: I've watched "A Few Good Men", and I own a copy, thank you very much. As they said at the end of that movie, YES the accused characters did something wrong. They were supposed to know the difference between right and wrong.

And I would sign up for a tour of duty, but I don't think they would accept me at this point. That and the fact that I don't really trust them to only send me to wars that are just, especially since all wars by their very nature are a hazy shade of gray. But that's me.

Are we really sinking to talking about tennis? It's bad enough every once in awhile I catch it wasting TV time, now it's on this blog? Don't get me wrong, I love to mute it and watch the Russian ladies bounce around as much as the next guy, but to talk about it on a hockey blog... Get in the box next to Dschebig, Burgee. Game misconduct for a lame pathetic "ridiculous" topic post (as Blake Rather would say). ::walking away shaking my head::
