Tailing the Komets

Coming Friday

Instead of a traditional season preview, we tried something remarkably different this year. All I can tell you about it is there is a centerfold. No, it's not me, either. (Who would pay for that?)

We basically tried answering the question, ``Why are the Komets so important to Fort Wayne?''

And, yes, there really is a centerfold. Would I lie to you?

Anyway, there will be a lot of cool things in the special section and some more things on-line. Please consider picking up a copy or two of the paper that day.

After the Open Blog and Feeling like we were being prepared for roster news that goes with the same old same old....I will make one last plea with my lines:

Chaulk, Benne, Rizk
Smith, Chaumont, Apod
Lapointe, Schrock, Thorne
Auger

Frankie, D Molle
Milam, B Molle
Starenky, Llewellyn

Boucher, New Goalie.

Those are my 18.

Bring in Veteran D-man.

Silly question - what time does the hard copy hit the newsstands?

Rosters are due at 7 p.m. tomorrow, correct?

To me the most important part of this roster and the upcoming cuts is finding guys that are willing to hustle to loose pucks and win the 50/50 battles. Last year we got killed by Rapid City because we lacked the speed and hustle it took to get to those loose pucks. Quite frankly, I don't care who makes the roster as long as they can get to the puck before the other guy(although I do question the proposed 7th d-man).

Hit Somebody, if I've figured this correctly, your cuts would be Drouin, Thomas, and Mele.

Ya know what? I don't really have any problem with these lines. I think the line of Smith-Chaumont-Apod would be a terrific line. If I was going to make one change, I would think about replacing LaPointe with Thomas. I do understand the value of LaPointe in the faceoff circle and his prowess for defense. That is a tough call, I think.

If "your" lines are correct it would also open up some cap space and two more veteran spots.

It will be interesting to see what they decide.

I think worthy of note on Jean Michel Rizk:

13 pro games
1g 0a
6 shots in 7 of those games that i could find.

He gets about 1 shot a game so far in his short career from all the stats i have seen.

I like Mele. He can skate better than the Thorne and Rizk. Seems to be around the net more and had more quality chances than either Thorne and Rizk. He just stuck out more to me and I think he could provide more offense than the other two. I guess Thorne has done well in scrimmages from what ive read, but like Brett Smith said in today's article those games are entirely different than the real thing. I was hoping he was going to be more physical in the home preseason game and I'm not sure how many hits he had, but nothing stood out about his game. Maybe i missed it though and it's a short body of work, but you would think when fighting for a spot he would try to be a sparkplug everytime out. I didnt see it or the energy. On Rizk again, nice size...but Lapointe is just as big and more valuable because of his faceoff abilities, not to mention he would probably have more offensive output. This is why I'd cut Rizk and Thorne and keep Mele.

In my opinion...........bye bye pc and leo.....but we all know frankes and they are loyal......would be SHOCKED if they actually made the right move this time....

I wouldn't mind if they cut Auger. He didn't show anything in the game on Sunday. Keep Rizk and Thorne. Replace Auger with Podshedlynov on the top line. I like a line of Chaulk, Apod, and Bennefield.

Buy the News-Sentinel at the stand? Heck, by subscribing to it I get it for $1.00/week. Not sure if that special is still available, but even for a few bucks more per week it keeps you from having to go look for those special issues and you can truly say you help pay Blake's and Chad's salary and the expense of maintaining this blog.....

If I had to bet on it I would say PC has made the team, for now. I won't go as far as to say Warner has made it but I wouldn't be surprised if he does either. Any word on Apod?

I thought Starensky was hurt. If so then that means BW will have to start season on roster. Or is Starensky well enough to play from the get go. I haven't heard. Can anyone elaborate on this for me?
