David Franke: There's nothing happening

According to Komets General Manager David Franke, the team doesn't have any ``secret goalie, secret weapon, I don't have anything going on with anybody'' coming in later. ``We're right where we're at. What's there is there.''

Justin Hodman and Pascal Morency are both playing in Europe and are not coming back.

As for the third goaltenders? ``Still working on that. We're looking at a couple of kids who are in ECHL camps. We're working on it. We really don't need anybody until Tuesday morning. If a guy gets cut over the weekend, we'll be free to bring them in then.''

One change is that Artem Podshendyalov won't be in training camp until likely Oct. 19 because of immigration issues in Russia.

Sorry, I'm not buying this about "nothing going on."

Under the thread "Management wrapping up details", KometKrazy posts these quotes he says he heard from Kent H. ..."exciting Komet news on a signing coming soon." ...couldn't announce it until the i's were dotted and the T's were crossed"..." Komet fans will be thrilled".

I truly believe KometKrazy heard Hormann state these words.

Even the most skeptical person wouldn't believe that KometKrazy, who is a good poster on this blog, would even think of making something like this up. Re-read the post and answer this question to yourself; does tne language used sound like that of a reporter? I say it's definitly yes.

Still skeptical? The ask yourself why he would say "all Komet fans will be thrilled". It sure implies that a well knowm player is on his way back.

Still skeptical? I invite you to go to the thread, "Tonight on sportswise". The first comment is from mightbite, and he writes, "I hope you guys will break the news on the "new" Komets player." Look closely as he puts in quotation marks the word new. I take it to mean that there is a player coming in that has not been announced but has played with the Komets previously. That is the reason Hormann indicated that we will be thrilled. That is why the quotation marks are used around the word "new" under mightbite's comment.

Very early in the radio broadcast Kent H. backpeddles and states he knows nothing going on and then reverses a bit and indicated this wasn't about a player. Really? What the heck would thrill Komet fans? Free parking? (Well maybe that would qualify, LOL).

Maybe something had been negotiated and then broke down. Maybe another contract needs to be voided before an announcement can be made.

I'm not sure what is going on with this, but I believe KometKrazy on what he posted, and mightbite on what he knows.

I have learned to trust my "gut feelings", and my gut feeling is screaming at me that someone new is close at hand.

If I am wrong, I will get right back on this blog to admit my error and apologize to whoever I need to.

I'm not sure about all of you, but I sure feel better now.

Then it's very simple: Mightbite, say what you think you know and use your real name so there are some actual consequences if you are wrong. Walk in my shoes a little. Put your reputation and your credibility on the line.

How about this, if he's wrong, everybody has to use their real full names on here. Put your money where your mouth is. LOL. Don't hide behind the anonymity being brave and taking shots. Stand up and be real and take responsibility for everything you type on here.

Consider this, what possible benefit is there for David Franke to lie?

Thanks Alan for the good words. I know I heard Hormann right. He was almost wanting to spill the beans but didn't. But if it is free parking, thats an extra $4 in my pocket each game and about $100 saved for the season. WooHoo But if it ends up being something else I too will take responsibility for my words. But hey I was right about Reiter retiring and not coming back so give me a little credit for one right post.

Franke has said a number of times that a player was NOT coming here and did. Just to name a few=Legault, Henley, Chaulk,Woods,Milam=all recent years that I have posted before they came here. I will quit telling you people about new players before they happen. I get my info from a player agent,so the guy knows things. & I know things.
Franke can not even talk about this player until the paper work is done.I also said that 1 player that they signed over the summer was not going to be here "Mangos" and let Blake & co. break that news. Dang it is a Alan post=about 1/2 :)

I would love to know what you think would happen to any of us if we used our real name and were wrong about something happening with a minor league hockey team. You've said this numerous times like it makes you tough if you go with a real name on a blog board. Seriously, is someone going to disagree with me, but address me by my real name instead? Huge consequence. A much better author once said "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

Alan
Sat, 10/08/2011 - 11:38am

If people have paid attention to my posts over the last year, there have been times that I have ended my posts using my whole name.

Ya know what? When I started posting, ( a couple of years ago), I didn't know any better. I was, and to a large part, still am pretty computer "naive".

I will go in and change my name to include my first name, which is Alan, and add my last name, which is Hines.

I don't care who knows and will post my opinions as always. I don't feel I have to hide behind anything, Blake.

I am with you, Mightbite. Nothing can be announced until the paperwork is finalized. Maybe this player has to get out from under another contract before he can "officially" be "signed" to Fort Wayne.

You are very welcome KometKrazy.

I was just kidding about the "free parking" comment. Although it would thrill most fans, wouldn't it?

Here is another thought to the player whose signing would thrill the fans. Maybe it is Luciano Aquino. Just throwing names out.

Just like there are a lot of brave drunks, I think it's too easy to be brave online when there are no hint of consequences because of the anonymity. For about 90 percent, using your real name wouldn't change a thing, but for that 10 percent it would require them to have real courage instead of feeling they are invincible and they can say whatever they want, no matter how hateful or whatever. Maybe they'd think twice before starting rumors if they weren't absolutely sure of them.

I know, it's naive of me to think people should actually have to stand up to what they say or write.

Another goalie should arrive this week, and Franke stressed that new players could be arriving all the time, as Fort Wayne wants to closely monitor players coming from the higher-level American Hockey, the NHL-affiliated ECHL and Europe.

Now this is
from the Journal Gazette, he says no & now this:

With David Franke stating they are looking over ECHL transactions for players being released I have one question.

Is the ECHL considered a higher AA league if we are looking for there cuts to make our team better? I have never looked at it that way but if an ECHL bottom player can't make a roster but is picked up by the CHL I suppose the talent is better in the ECHL, eh?

Thanks for any input or help you can give me on this subject as like I have stated I have never payed attention to it before.

Blake Sebring
Sun, 10/09/2011 - 9:38am

It probably depends why the player was released. Often it's because the ECHL teams got sent down players from their NHL affiliate and simply ran out of roster pace, not because the player can't play or maybe even isn't better than several players kept on the roster.

I don't get why people are getting all over Mightbite. He has been right 95% of the time about things he has said about players coming or not coming. I mean even Kent Horman was saying there was someone coming well up until Blake told him no which I guess makes it right. David Franke can't say anything until the contract is signed and if the player is in Europe it may take time. He isn't lying he just isn't giving the whole truth on record. Just like chaulk wasn't coming back, everything is fine in flint and bloomy, dayton is fine, the IHL is strong as ever, so on and so fourth......so hopefully the contract gets done so mightbite is right again but nobody will apologize to him for all this. If the contract falls thru we will never know and then that will make him look like the drunk and Idiot that people are calling including the leader that says we can't have that here......well unless it is the special ones who say what they want and don't get censored becuase their opinion goes with the company line. I usually stay out of this but I couldn't take this pile on mighty for info he has crap any longer. This is the same stuff that happened a few years ago when all the FYC folks were saying teams in Michigan were folding and leaving the league and we were all called rumor mongers and idiot bloggers even though we had proof and even info from other reporters and people who were close to the situation.

So here is a rumor: Hodgeman is the player Mighty is talking about.....well you know my real name so I guess when I am wrong I guess I am going to get sued or banned or whatever....I don't care.....Hi Hit I guess I am with you now in oblivion.

Mighty, on behalf of all the stupid people I apologize. As far as the smart ones I can't speak to that.
