Tailing the Komets

David Franke's response

``There is a rule about blind-side hits, and I think what they are doing is going by how the rule reads. I was there at the game and saw it happen. There was no penalty on it, but there is a rule regarding blindside hits and that's what they are working off of, especially with a player hurt. He did not deliberately hit him in the head, there's no elbow or no forearm. As their coach said, 10 years ago that would have been a clean hit, but now we have to be very concerned about the players' safety regarding concussions.”

``If you are going to give O'Connor a suspension, Reaney has to have a suspension too because he traveled a great distance. It was obvious they were targeting O.C. after the other hit, and then he (Reaney) took off from the far corner across the goal line and nailed him. Everybody in the building knew what the intent was. He hit him full force right into the glass and the boards.

“O.C. has a broken nose and he's kind of a little bit dizzy. He's not 100 percent healthy. If they are going to give him a suspension, they better give it to Reaney, too, or it's going to be open season. The new rules they have come up with to protect the players, if Reaney is not going to get a suspension they are not following the new rules. They are not doing what they said they wanted to do at the start of the year.”

The video of the play shows that O'Connor saw Reaney coming at the last second and turned into the boards so that he was hit from behind.

``Thank God he did because what would have happened if he had not seen him coming?'' Franke said. ``The intent was there to lay him out. He didn't have any way to protect himself and he got blasted.''

I believe that they can win if Sims lets them play physically. NO TRAP that hasn't worked all year!

Yeah, I don't know why the trap is ever even tried with this team. Hopefully it doesn't see the ice again from here on out.

Now Dave W has the right attitude. Play the game and see where the puck stops. Complaining about suspensions gets people no where so let's play the game and see what happens.

I would also say that it may be a huge mistake to hit Colt King. The man knows how to play the game and whoever took the chance at taking a pot shot at him would pay the price.

Lol. Colt King?

This Colt King?

I'm guessing none of the Komets are all that scared of your wanna-be goon.

HaHa they're crying for a blindside hit in that clip too...Do the Rush have matching handbags?

Not a goon just a class act.

Fro, just in case you didn't look it up, Sean O'Connor is not a dirty player. He is only 5' 11" and 180 pounds. That's 15 pounds lighter than the Rapid City player he checked. This entire season, O'Connor has only had 38 penalty minutes. I was not at the game, however, I did watch the video several times, and to me, it did not appear like a play worthy of a penalty or a suspension. I think it was a good check, and at the same time, I am very, very sorry that your player was injured. No one wants anyone to be injured. By the way, when O'Connor got hit from behind and slammed into the boards by another of your Rush players later, Sean's nose was broken by the impact. Fort Wayne is not a goon squad, and there will be nothing going on at our arena on Wednesday but good, hard played hockey.

Couldn't agree more Running Komet, wonder if Al soft Sims & David Franke are wishing that they gave Leggs or Mark Rechlicz more of a chance. Maybe we need a more physcial type coach for next year. Kevin Kaminski is still out there. Bring back Killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The same class act who came straight off the bench to fight Cescon in that clip.... H'es lucky the ref wasnt paying attention to that...

And I'm sorry, whoever the second guy is who's doing the commentary doesnt know a blindside hit from a homerun.... You can see that Cescon is skating backwards through the neutral zone and goes over to Reeder once the puck is passed his way... Blindside hit my fanny.... I'm beginning to wonder if the Rush have horse blinders on thier helmets...

Living in the past is not a good way to spend your day. Looking forward to the game tonight is the way to go. Drop the puck and let's get it on !!!

Rush fans are the ones bringing up the Reeder hit right now as evidence that the Komets are a classless team, citing history..... Who's living in the past?

Rush fans are coming up with whatever they want to legitimize thier stance and then bash Komets fans for doing the same... All I am saying is dont be hypocrites....

What I'm saying here fella's is let's quit making excuses for 2 loses and look at game 3. It will be a good game but don't count the Rush out. You talk about the history you have and how the Komets have been there well the Rush know how to win also. Here's to a great game on Wedneday night and hope the Komets are around for the Friday night game.
