Only around 300 season ticket holders so far? Let the negativity begin. :S But you gotta love it the way they keep telling people the IHL is the "top tier" in the AA level. That always makes me smile.

Hm. Should check spelling of other team names before publishing (http://dayton.bizjournals.com/dayton/stories/2009/09/07/story1.html?b=1252296000^2040551&page=2).

Quad City signs 4 more.....they are loading up. This league is going to be tough as nails this year.....no one has an advantage this season at all, at least that is how it looks. Solid signings all around the league.

if there were all these guys available for these teams that everyone was saying were so backwards and in trouble two weeks ago because they hadn't signed, why didn't the Komets pick them up if they're so good?

Because, the Komets re-signed 90% of their team from last season...

Also, lots of these guys you are seeing signed by Flint and QC are thru contacts that those particular coaches and general managers have that the Komets don't or wouldn't have necessarily.

There are still plenty of players out there that are looking for places to land I would imagine. There are a lot less places in whole for players to play because of the economics of Minor League Hockey and the number of teams that have folded since last year. Plus, you will see players that are trying to catch on to an AHL team or even overseas that might not go that direction, and might wind-up in the IHL with the IHL giving players new opportunities with 7 teams, more Veterans per team, and an extra roster position that the teams didn't have last season with the ability to dress an extra skater each night.

Once again, I will say it, the IHL is alot more solid as far as players and talent goes this season compared to the last several years of the IHL/UHL. Just look at the goaltending in this league...the number of AHL/NHL guys filtering to this league, and so on. This season ought to be very entertaining and exciting, even if the Komets aren't the best team this year. The other teams are going to give us a serious run for our money. Making the playoffs this season is no where a given like it has been in the past. Mark my words.

Thanks for the response, Hit. All good information. I'll agree, the league is sounding more and more solid. I guess that one was more directed towards everyone who was freaking out because the teams hadn't signed anyone yet and were assuming they wouldn't be able to find any quality players because of signing late. In any event, should be an awesome season.

The Chicago Blackhawks open training camp tomorrow 9/11/09. Good luck to Justin Hodgman. When the NHL open their training camps and the exhibition season begins-Komet Hockey cannot be far away!! Even as the Blackhawks open tomorrow, 9/11-- let us not forget the real significance of that day. We live in the best Country in the world, one that even though has its challenges, stands far above any other on this Earth. We owe so much to our Armed Services, to our leaders, and to the individual men and women who put their lives on the line everyday, just so we can live a free life and enjoy things like Komet Hockey. Let us remember and pray for the real heroes.

I'll say this for 9/11 -- It has made me want to check the news headlines on my computer first thing every day. You never know what could be going on until you do.
