Tailing the Komets

Doesn't look like the books are going to arrive today

Either. I'll keep you posted on when they do. Here's a pre-edited sample, part of Bud Gallmeier's story.

So in 1952 he moved to The News-Sentinel so he could work more in the daytime and be home with his family more often in the evenings. The move allowed him to write more, including covering college beats.

Hockey became part of his coverage in 1955

I can hardly wait for the book. You sure have "Nailed" Bud. I have been around long enought to remember him. He was what I would call the "Perfect Komet Fan" A beat writer who loved his job, people and hockey players. He knew how to do it just the way it should be done. Most importantly he passed that valuable trait on to you. Different era different person but just as good. I would have loved to have been able to read a book of Bud's stories. I am sure yours (Blake) will be a great read if it ever arrives. Waiting will just make us appreciate it more. I am sure it was fun to pick Chaser's brain. There has to be a world on hockey knowledge in that man. I am not worried about you changing. You have been the same dedicated writer as long as I have known you. We both know how far back that goes. Keep up the good work!

I too, was hoping that the book would arrive this weekend.

However, having really enjoyed the first one I am sure that it will be worth the wait.

I remember reading a few of Mr. Gallmeier's articles when I was younger (single, no grey hairs, smaller suit size! LOL!) and I think they helped me have a better understanding and appreciation of the game that we all love.

If you ever decide to leave the newspaper business, you would make an outstanding journalism / writing instructor. You could help revive what is becoming a lost art in writing.

Keep up the outstanding work!

I was so disappointed to hear the book was not in yet. I'm leaving for Florida in a few days and I was hoping to have it to read on the plane!
